On Sunday Parents’ Club hosted a Family Fun Day at OzTenpin Star Bowl. There were

some very serious game faces on when it came to strutting your bowling groove and lots of laughter was shared too. This was an opportunity for our families to socialise as well as raise some money for Junior School Council for the development of our cubby house area.

The raffle was drawn with 2 of the regular bowlers winning 1st & 2nd Prizes. Matt Irwin picked up a $50 Rebel voucher and Chloe Irwin won a family bowling pass.

Thank you to Irwin, Moulsdales, Blakes, Hunts, Keats, Larfields, Kays, Scotts, Ryans, Okelys, Thompsons, Smiths and Tricaricos for attending the day as well as all of our families who sold raffle tickets.

Finally a big thank you to Melissa and Tim Thomspon who hosted this event at OzTenpin Star Bowl. They organised a BBQ, sold raffle tickets and ensured lots of fun was had by all. Melissa also donated her own time on Sunday. An amazing effort!

It is with great pleasure that I announce that we raised $1,109.00 for our JSC for our cubby house project. Congratulations!

Our Swimming program is up and running for another year. From all reports the first day went well without

too many hiccups. Thank you to the parents who came down to the pool and those who helped.

Parents are welcome to come down to the pool to watch your child/ren. We are in the pool from 1.30pm to 2.30pm until Friday.

Please remember that if you are picking up your child/ren from the pool that you let the teacher who is with the students who have already changed know. Then we can keep an account of where everyone is for safety reasons. Also if there are a number of students leaving from the pool we might not need

to run a second bus back to school.

Please remember NO HOT LUNCHES this week due to our change in timetable having lunch from 11.00am to 11.45am. Thanks for your support.

This Friday 11th May we have a Financial Audit. This is a standard Department of

Education and Training process that schools are required to do to check financial policies and processes are in accordance with Department requirements. Lisa Irwin and Joanne Stonehouse are predominantly involved with this process by providing documentation and explanations of how we operate. I will also be involved to justify and explain some areas too.

As a result, Tracey Opie will be in the office on Friday.

Parents of our Year 3 and 5 students received information about NAPLAN last week. NAPLAN is the National Assessment Program ~ Literacy and Numeracy. It assesses literacy and numeracy skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life. The areas assessed are: Language Conventions, Reading, Writing and Numeracy. The NAPLAN assessments are very formal as is the administration of the tests which is scripted for supervising staff to follow to ensure consistency across Australia. Schools receive NAPLAN results and data in August which is then published in multiple Department’s School Performance Reports and on the Myschools website. I wish all of our Year 3 and 5 students the best for NAPLAN!

Wishing all of our Mum’s a very Happy Mother’s Day this Sunday. We hope you like your special present!

    Talking Footy with Magic Magpies

    Round 7 Wrap

On Friday night Geelong ran out 61 point winners over Greater Western Sydney. The best for

the Cats were: Duncan, Stewart and Dangerfield and for the Giants: Shiel, Haynes and

Whitfield. A couple of tipsters were brave and rolled the dice on a GWS victory but were

    disappointed.

At Metricon Stadium on Saturday afternoon, the Suns led at every change but it was the

Bulldogs who prevailed to defeat the Suns by 9 points. The Doggies absolutely dominated the

last quarter to give them their hard fought win!

At the MCG the Hawks ran out 23 point winners over the Bombers. Mitchell and Sicily

finished the game with 29 possessions each for the Hawks, with 28 disposals to Heppell for

the Bombers. The Hawks unpredictable seasons continues while the Bombers nose dive again

    disappointing their fans at K.C.P.S.!

West Coast easily accounted for Port Adelaide 102 to 60 over in the West.

The upset of the Round from a tipsters point of view, was the Kangas beating the Swans by 2

points. Mason Wood was the hero with his fourth goal securing a win against the odds for a

tough North Melbourne side who now find themselves in the 8.

The Crows were too classy for the baby Blues beating them by a very comfortable 55 points at

Adelaide Oval on Saturday night. Those responsible for Carlton’s player list must be

scratching their heads as they watched a number of ex-Blues tear them apart in the Crows

    colours

On Sunday at the MCG, the Tigers taught the Dockers a lesson in how to play footy,

    smashing them 110 to 33.

At Etihad, Miss Baker’s beloved Dees took care of the hapless Saints beating them by 39

    points.

Finally at the Gabba, the Lions gave the Magpies a scare after a tightly contested game.

Magpies got over the line with a 7 point win 121 to 114. The critics have hailed it the most

entertaining game of the season so far ...

Footy Tipping Stars of the Week – for Round 7 was – Curtis Laidlaw who tipped 9 winning

    the $90.00 Jackpot! Congratulations Curtis!

There are too many tippers to list this week who scored 7s and 8s so well done to all of you!

Footy Tipping Ladder Leaders – for Round 7 are: Tradie Sam has gained a little bit of a break

on top of the ladder with 45. Bomber10, Dagwood Dog, Deescraceful, Digger’s Rooboys, Magic

Magpies and Mrs O are all in second position with 43. Then on 42 are Dylan’s Kangas and

Two Tigers , closely followed by Blazing Bomber, Bomber Blitz, Fope’s Hopes, Mr Zito,

Pistol Pete, Snow White and Specky Magee sitting on 41.

Reminders: Those tippers who have paid $10.00 need to pay another $13.00 dollars for the

rest of the season. Please do so by Round 10.

There are a number of tipping sheets not being completed correctly. Please ensure you write

both your name & competition name as it does make it easier when I’m working out weekly

results. Also please ensure tipping sheets are handed in on time.

If possible, avoid emailing tips because I don’t always get to check our school emails. For

example, last Friday I was in Melbourne and didn’t have access to checking our school

    account.

    This week’s Jackpot is $30.80.

Good luck and happy tipping everyone!
