About Animal Welfare Association Animal Welfare Association (AWA), a private, non-profit 501(c)3, is the oldest and largest animal welfare organization that operates a low-cost spay/neuter clinic, adoption center and no-kill animal shelter in South Jersey. AWA offers a variety of innovative programs designed to save pets’ lives and help people. Celebrating our 70

th anniversary this year,

AWA continues to be a pioneer in animal welfare and to serve as a trusted community resource for people and their pets. All healthy and adoptable companion animals that come through our doors are given as long as it takes for us to find them a home of their own, regardless of age, beauty or infirmity. We provide extensive medical care, behavior training and foster care to animals who need a little extra to make them adoptable. As a result, in 2016 more than 96 percent of the animals here were saved and placed into loving homes. All of this takes thousands of hours of round-the-clock care, complex medical procedures, carefully trained volunteers, emergency transports from overcrowded shelters and innovative behavior enrichment programs. Yet we do not receive any funding from the government or national groups. We rely solely upon local donations and corporate partners like you to fund our life-saving programs.
