Hello FBLA members and advisers,

Welcome to the first edition of the National Secretary’s Council Newsletter! We are excited to put Excellence in Action this year with you! Each edition of the Newsletter will feature important updates, helpful articles, and spotlights on what FBLA members are doing around the country!

We hope this newsletter will help you develop your skills, and take on a bigger role in FBLA. Please, share it with your chapter, and try out some of the innovative programs we feature!Please contact [email protected] to submit an article, schedule a meeting, or ask any questions.

Kenneth Pomeranz FBLA National Secretary

Kenneth Pomeranz, a senior at Mamaroneck High School in New York, is honored to serve as your FBLA National Secretary. Since joining FBLA as a freshman, he developed a passion for the organization, making him work hard and achieve great success. He has held office as State Secretary, and State Reporter, as well as serving his third term as a local chapter office. He has won first place in three state competitions, and has won awards such as the BAA. Ken is excited to help lead each and every FBLA member to put “Excellence into Action.”

Nico Zingarelli is a Junior at St. Francis DeSales High School in Columbus, Ohio. He has been an FBLA member for three years, and a State Officer for two, serving as Webmaster his sophomore year, and Secretary this year. On the National Secretary Council, Nico holds the position of Executive Assistant. Outside of FBLA, Nico is the President of his school’s Spanish Club, is involved in various other academic organizations, and plays lacrosse. When not doing busy with any of these, Nico enjoys reading, investing, and hanging out with friends. Nico is extremely excited to work with the National Secretary Council in order to improve the FBLA experience for all members!

Mimi Hess, a senior at Parsippany Hills High School in New Jersey, is honored to serve as Communications DIrector! FBLA is an integral part of her life and has truly inspired her to enhance her leadership and networking skills. She hopes nothing more than to ignite the same passion in other members. Previously, Mimi has served on state committees and has been recognized as a state gold member. Currently, she serves as the NJ FBLA State Historian. Outside of FBLA, Mimi is a varsity basketball player, the treasurer of her senior class, and a volunteer at her local hospital. She loves meeting new people and is looking forward to putting Excellence in Action this year!

Annika Mulaney lives in Lakeland, Florida and is currently a junior at the International Baccalaureate at Bartow High School. She has been an active member of FBLA since seventh grade and truly appreciates what the organization has done for her and fellow members across the nation. Throughout her years as a member, she has served as the District Middle Level President, District President, Chapter Secretary, Chapter Vice President, and Chapter President. She served her first state office term as the Florida State Secretary last year, and this year she serves as the Region III Vice President as well as an assistant on the National Secretary’s Council. Outside of FBLA, Annika enjoys science competitions, volunteering, track, dance, and band. She looks forward to an amazing year and hope to promote Excellence in Action!

ai Sharika Bamezai is currently a senior at the Downingtown STEM Academy. She joined FBLA during her freshman year. In addition to serving as the National Secretary’s Assistant, Sharika is also the Pennsylvania State Secretary. In the past, she has served as Co-President of her local chapter for two terms. Outside of FBLA, Sharika is also involved in Student Council, National Honors Society, and Key Club. She hopes to combine her passion for business and biology in college.

Ready. Set. LEAD!Kick off the summer by putting your excellence in action at NLC 2014 in Nashville, Tennessee! Aside from competing, students and their advisers have the opportunity to participate in motivational sessions, professional development, and career planning workshops. Also, they have the unique opportunity to network with members across the nation!
