Patterns of use of thienopyridine therapy afterpercutaneous coronary interventions withdrug-eluting stents and bare-metal stents
• 5,263 older patients (>65 years) who received DES and 6,081 older patients who received bare-metal
• stents (BMS)• “Primary non-adherence” • No thienopyridine ! • for # 7% (DES or BMS)

Barriers to clopidogrel adherence following placement of drug-eluting stents
• The nonadherence rate was 20%. • The majority (58%) of nonadherent patients
discontinued therapy prematurely. • Patients identified the main reason for
discontinuation as medical barriers (18.56%), including perceived adverse effects (9.28%).

A systematic review and meta-analysis on the hazards of discontinuing or not adhering to aspirin among 50 279 patients
at risk for coronary artery disease
