Since the incepton of the NYWEA Scholar-ship Program, over $522,000 has been awarded to more than 200 scholars pursuing environmental education.

The N.G. Kaul Memorial Scholarship Fund will be offering up to $5,000 in scholarships to students
pursuing graduate or doctoral degrees in environmental/civil engineering or environmental science
concentrating on water quality who show a commitment to government service.
Seeking N.G. Kaul Scholarship Applications. Do You Know Someone Eligible to Apply?
Scholarship application is available on the NYWEA website (www.nywea.org).
The deadline for application is February 28, 2020.
N.G. Kaul was a highly respected engineer, an immigrant from
City and then with the New York State DEC, rising to the position of Director of the Division of Water in 1992. That service was capped, upon his retirement in 2002, by his appointment as Director of
-ments in the Hudson River. He died in February of 2004.

As I begin my term as NYWEA’s 92nd President, I would like to
thank CDM Smith for off ering me the fl exibility to serve
the water community in this role as the youngest person
to hold this position in the organization’s history. It is inspiring
to work for a fi rm that is not only providing a legendary client
experience deeply rooted in technical excellence, but one which
is also community-minded and committed to improving
quality of life through local eff orts. One example of this is the
Bergen Point Wastewater Treatment Plant Outfall Replacement
Project in Suff olk County, NY (pictured above). Here, a new
120-inch diameter, 14,200-foot-long tunnel will link an
upgraded Final Effl uent Pump Station to the ocean outfall
below the Great South Bay, securing the plants resiliency for
years to come.
