University had introduced Correspondence courses in the year 1972 to extend thefrontiers of academic excellence beyond its campus. This Institute was upgraded as Director-ate of Distance Education (DDE) in April 1995 as per the UGC norms. Diploma : in IR & PM, Guidance and Counselling,Professional Courses : B.E.d., B.Ed. 3rd Methodology and B.Li.Sc.6I. Admission into I Year B.A./B.Com Courses under Open University System (OUS)The Directorate of Distance Education, Sri Venkateswara University offers B.A./B.Com.courses of study through Distance Education under Open University System (without formaleducation). It was introduced from the academic year 1992-93. Admission under Open Uni-versity system is open to all candidates. Applications are called for eligibility test for admis-sion into B.A./B.Com. under OUS for the academic year 2010-11.II. ELIGIBILITY :1) No pre-requisite educational qualifications is required on the part of candidates.2) Under this system candidates should have completed 18 years of age on 31-8-2010 andshould qualify the eligibility test conducted by DDE.3) The attested Xerox copy of date of birth certificate obtained from the concerned au-thority (as stated below) should invariably be submitted along with the applicationfrom, otherwise his/her application will be summarily rejected for eligibility test.Date of birth certificate should be taken from the following authorities :a) Transfer Certificate of the candidate if studied any course earlierb) Date of Birth Certificate obtained from the MRO / 1st Class Magistrate / Municipal Com-missioner. Affidavit from the Notaryc) SSC Marks statementd) Caste Certificate(The candidate belonging to SC/ST should enclose the caste certificate obtained fromthe MRO)III. ELIGIBILITY TEST1. Candidate seeking admission into B.A./B.Com courses should write the Eligibility testeither in English medium or Telugu medium.2. Eligibility Test will be of SSC standard.3. The eligibility test will have the following components:Subject Duration Max Marks forMarks Qualifying Part-I General Knowledge and Current Affairs (50 Questions) Part-II General English (25 Questions) 2 hours 100 35 Part-III Elementary Mathematics (25 Questions)74. The question paper will contain 100 objective type questions, each carrying one mark.5. A candidate should secure 35% (35/100) of marks.However, in the case of candidates belonging to Schedule Caste / Scheduled Tribesthe minimum pass marks in the eligibility test are 25 (25/100)6. Eligibility Test CentersS.V. University Campus, Tirupati and the candidates choosing the study centres statedin page No. 20, are advised to write three centres options in priority(NOTE: If the minimum candidates are not available at a centre they will be allotted toanother centre to write the eligibility test)7. Date of Eligibility Test 19-12-2010 Sunday, Time 11.00 AM to 1.00 PMIV. a) DISPATCH OF HALL TICKETSCandidates are required to enclose two self addressed stamped (Rs. 35/- each) enve-lopes (9x4) to the application for dispatching the Hall-Tickets and marks throughRegistered post. For ordinary post affix Rs. 5/- stamps to envelope.b) ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTSThe results of the eligibility test will be communicated to the candidates by post.Copies of result sheets will be displayed at the DDE Office, S.V. University, Tirupatiand at all study centres.c) FILLING UP OF THE HALL-TICKET FORMSThere are two hall-tickets forms marked Original and Duplicate which are identicalin all respects and both the hall-ticket forms have to be filled in. The photographshave to be attested by a gazetted officer. If the Hall-ticket is not received for anyreason, the candidate can collect a duplicate hall ticket from this office on produc-tion of a passport size photograph one day before the eligibility test.Note : The candidates have to submit their Hall-ticket and Rank card at the time of admis-sion. Keep the Hall ticket and marks memo carefully till your admission.V. COURSE OF STUDYThe course of study for the degree (B.A/B.Com) shall be in two parts.Part-I: Part I is common for B.A and B.Com courses. This consists of study ofa) First Language - Englishb) Another Language (Telugu)8Note : Candidates are permitted to choose Hindi, Tamil, Urdu, Sanskrit under Part-I(b) assecond Language, but the preparation of study material is at their own risk. Thisinstitute will not supply any study material and conduct classes for the second lan-guage subject other than Telugu.Part-II for B.A. Degree :Under part-II, the candidate admitted in I B.A. Degree can choose any one of the groupsubjects mentioned below:1. History, Economics, Political Science2. History, Political Science and Public Administration3. Sociology, History, Political Science4. History, Political Science, English5. History, Political Science, Telugu6. Political Science, Sociology and Public AdministrationPart-III1. Foundation coursePart-II for B.Com. Degree :For 1st B.Com course there are four papers under Part-IIa) Business Economicsb) Financial Accountingc) Business Organisation and Managementd) Fundamental of Computers.VI. DURATION OF THE COURSEDuration of B.A./B.Com degree course is of three years from the date of admission intothe course.VII. MODE OF INSTRUCTIONThe DDE provides instruction both in English and Telugu medium. The candidates canchoose any one of the medium to write the University Examinations.9VIII. EXAMINATION AND PASSING MARKSa) The Examinations will be conducted by the controller of Examination, S.V. Universityalong with P.G. previous students.b) Candidates have to pay the examination fee along with the examination application tothe Controller of Examinations of S.V. University. This will be informed to the candi-dates at the end of academic year.c) The maximum marks for each paper is 100. The Minimum pass marks is 35/100 for allpapers.IX. FEE PARTICULARSThe candidates who are qualified in the eligibility test should pay the following fee:B.A./B.Com. Fee particularsI year - Rs. 2500/-II year - Rs. 1500/-III year - Rs. 1500/-(The fee includes Registration fee, Tuition fee, CPC fee and Development fee)Note : 1. The above fee (Rs. 2500/-) for I year should be paid only by the qualified candi-dates in the eligibility test, after receiving rank card and admission application.2. The candidates need not pay any fee long with the eligibility test application.X. CONTACT PROGRAMME CLASSES (CPC)The DDE will organize 12 days C.P.C. at Tirupati and other study centres. The coordina-tors will organise the CPC at the respective study centers.XI. STUDY MATERIALThe study material covering the syllabus prescribed for the courses will be dispatchedto the candidates in two spells. This study material has been prepared by the subject experts.The students are advised to develop regular reading habit from the beginning.XII. LIBRARY FACILITYThere is a well established library in the D.D.E. Students are advised to make use of thelibrary for ready reference.10XIII. IDENTITY CARD AND CODE ROLL NO:Students admitted into the course will be issued Identity card with attested photo ofthe student which contains Code Roll Number and course. The student should mention theCode Roll No. in all future correspondence regarding the course.XIV. TELEPHONE COUNSELLINGTelephone Counselling facility is available in the D.D.E. OFFICE TIMINGSThe working hours of the Directorate of Distance Education are 10.15 a.m., to 1. p.m. and1.45 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. on all working days.
