May 17, 2017 Moved by L. Bell, seconded by B. Singh Bansal, that the

minutes of the Parks, Recreation and Culture Advisory Committee meeting held May 17, 2017, be adopted.

PRC 030-2017 CARRIED. 3. PRESENTATIONS .1 Urban Systems Ltd. Presentation and Engagement Workshop regarding the

Plan200K Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan Urban Systems Ltd. consultant C. Berris provided a PowerPoint presentation and an overview of the Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan findings to date. The discussion included: where we are today, what we’ve heard from the focus groups, our interrelationships with other Plan200K Master Plans and the next steps of analyzing and collating the data collection. An engagement opportunity took place around the preliminary data findings and the question of “what does Abbotsford want be known as?” Community engagement opportunities will continue with pop-up events scheduled for High-Street Shopping Centre, the Abbotsford Farm and Country Market, Canada Day, the Sikh Temple and the online survey, closing July 3, 2017.

Moved by B. Day, seconded by N. Bergen, that the PowerPoint presentation, and engagement opportunity, from Urban Systems Ltd., regarding the Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan, be received for information. PRC 031-2017 CARRIED.

REPORTS .1 Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan Update (Report No. PRC 005-2107) The Director, Recreation and Culture provided a brief update on the Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan as well introduced the Urban Systems Ltd. Project Leader, C. Berris.

Moved by B. Day, seconded by N. Bergen, that the Report No. PRC 005-2017, dated June 1, 2017, from the Director, Recreation and Culture, regarding the Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan Update, be received for information.

PRC 032-2017 CARRIED.

7. NEW BUSINESS .1 List of Upcoming City of Abbotsford Special Events A list of upcoming City of Abbotsford’s special events for June and July was provided to all the Parks, Recreation and Culture Advisory Committee members. .2 Thank you Correspondence A resident of Abbotsford wrote a thank you note giving accolades to the Parks Department for planning three beautiful trees on McClure Road in 2013. These lovely trees are now providing shade and an ambiance of beauty to their backyard. 8. ADJOURNMENT

Moved by L. Bell, seconded by A. Levy, that the Parks, Recreation and Culture Advisory Committee meeting held June 21, 2017 be adjourned. (4:30 p.m.) CARRIED.

• Free 10-week program for families who have a child (7-13 years old) above a healthy weight.

• City of Abbotsford ran 5 cycles between October 2014 and April 2017 (program cancelled in May 2017)

• During this time 3 cycles were cancelled due to low registration

• A total of 35 families completed the program

• A “made in BC” program is currently in development to replace MEND

• We received the $30,000 grant from Fraser Health
