Welcome to Pier01 The  perfect  choice  for  your  Wedding  or  Social  Function.  

   

Set   on   the   Ulverstone   Wharf   overlooking   the   picturesque  Leven  River,  Pier01   is  a  wonderful  destination   for  your   family  and   friends,   a   truly  beautiful   location   for   your   function  and  a  wonderful   place   to   celebrate   with   your   colleagues   and   or  friends.    

 Pier01,  centrally  located  on  Tasmania’s  North  West  Coast  has  a  professional  and  passionate  team  of  staff  who  are  committed  to   making   your   event   as   successful   as   possible,   up   to   date  communication   systems,   plentiful   car   parking   spaces,   and   a  variety   of   function   spaces   that   can   cater   for   functions   of   any  form  and  size  Including  events  for  up  to  400  guests.  

 For   the   planning   of   your   function   you   will   be   designated   a  Function  Coordinator  who  will  be  your  Pier01  contact  from  day  one   right   through   to   the   end   of   your   function   to   ensure  everything   is  attended   to  and   that  you  have  a  consistent  and  guaranteed  Pier01  point  of  contact.  

 Our  Kitchen  Team  will  work  with  your  Function  Coordinator  to  not  only  meet  but  exceed  your  hospitality  needs,  guaranteeing  that   you   will   be   pleased   will   all   aspects   of   the   hospitality  aspects  of  your  function.      

 Your   Function   Coordinator   will   present   to   you   a   range   of  hospitality   options   for   your   consideration.   These   options   can  be  amended  to  meet  your  specific  needs  and  budget,  and  will  be  prepared  and  presented  in  a  truly  professional  manner.    

 This   Function   Pack   is   intended   as   a   guide   in   planning   your  

event.   The   real  planning   for   your   function  will   occur  over  a   cup  of   coffee  with  your  Function  Coordinator  as  we  work  closely  with  you  to  design  a  tailor  made  package  that  suits  your  needs  and  results  in  a  truly  memorable  function.

Booking  your  Function  

The  Planning  Process  

Before  you  book  your  function  we  encourage  you  to  call  in  to  Pier01  and  have  a  look  at  the  options  this  site  can  present  for  you  on  your  special  day.        To  ensure  we  can  spend  quality  time  with  you  on  these  visits  please  ring  and  confirm  a  time  so  we  can  ensure  your  Function  Coordinator   can  meet  with  you  and  present  all  of   the  Pier01  options  for  your  consideration.    To   confirm   your   visit   to   Pier01   please   contact   the   Function  Coordinator  directly  by:    Phone:  03  6425  7811    Email:  functions@pier01.com.au

Pier01   will   design,   in   conjunction   with   you,   an   event   to   meet   your   individual   needs.  Function  packages  can  include:  (Examples  only)    

§ Two,  three  or  four  course  sit  down  meals  with  alternate  drops      

§ Choice  option  menus  can  be  provided  for  groups  of  20  or  more  at  an  additional  cost    

§ Stand  up  Canapé/Cocktail  Party  –  multiple  options.    

Please  talk  to  your  Function  Coordinator  to  organise  your  preferred  catering  option.    

 

 

I  chose  Pier01,  in  Ulverstone  as  the  venue  for  my  wedding  reception  held  in  Jan  -­‐  2014.  On  the   evening,   the   Pier01   staff   provided  exceptional   customer   service   all   supported  by  and  contributed  too  by  Ella  and  Mat.  The  quality   of   the   food   in   our   3   course   meal  throughout   the   evening   was   superb   -­‐   there  was   not   a   complaint   from  myself   or   any   of  the   90+   guests   who   attended.   The   evening  and   food   service   ran   perfectly   to   schedule,  the  room  was  setup  and  decorated  perfectly  by   the   Pier01   staff,   contributed   too   by   a  stunning   building   and   great   river   view.   I  cannot   thank   Ella   and   the   Pier01   staff  enough   for   providing   a   perfect   dining   and  function   experience   for   our   wedding  reception.

 Pier01  hosted  our  wedding  reception  on  the  4th  of   January,  and  my  new  husband  and   I  would   like   to   commend   the  wonderful   staff  and   kitchen   on   making   our   evening  enjoyable   and   relaxed.   The   food   was  incredible   and   the   atmosphere   that   was  created   by   the   staff   displaying   true  professionalism  and  coordinated  by   Ian  and  Ella   Kent   was   fantastic.   We   would  recommend  this  venue  to  anyone  looking  for  a  prefect  reception  or  even  just  dinner.

Selecting  your  Function  Space  

Pier01  is  ideally  situated  to  host  your  event.    The  structure  of  our  building  allows  for  the  function  and  other  aspects  of  your  celebration  to  all  be  held  in  separate  and  discreet  locations.    Pier01   is   a   Restaurant   and   Café   situated   in   a   large  multipurpose   building  with   sound   resistant  concertina  walls   that   allow   the  building   to  be  opened  or  divided   to  meet   the  diverse  needs  of  event  and  event  organisers.    The   Architectural   drawings   as   seen   below   identify   the   scope   of   the   available   space   and   the  diversity  of  space  the  management  of  Pier01  have  at  their  disposal.    

Leven  River  

   

River  Room  (Meeting  Space)  The  River  Room  is  designed  specifically  for  meeting  purposes,  although  its  proximity  to  Pier01’s  kitchen  and  bar  allows  the  room  to  cater  for  hospitality  events  as  well.  

 The  River  Room  has  electronic  communication   facilities   including  data  projection   to   the   largest  screen   available   on   the   coast.   Televisions   are   also   installed   in   this   room   for   further  communication  needs.    The  River  Room  can  accommodate  up  to  50  guests  (seated  at  round  tables);  75  theatre  style  with  lectern   and   stage   and   120   cocktail   party   guests.   The   River   Room   can   be   extended   into   the  adjacent  foyer  to  increase  guest  numbers  or  this  space  can  be  made  available  for  alternative  and  optional  uses.    Access  can  also  be  extended  to  the  Gnomon  Pavilion  if  additional  space  is  required.

The  Gnomon  Pavilion  (Multi  Use  Space)  

The   Gnomon   Pavilion   is   an   extensive   space   which  makes   it   suitable   for   a   variety   of   purposes  including   large  meetings   and   conventions   and   a   variety   of   social   functions   including  weddings.  The  space  is  used  by  the  Central  Coast  Council  to  present  “Live  on  the  Wharf”  on  Friday  evenings  and  the  performers  have  all  commented  positively  with  respect  to  the  acoustics  of  the  area.    The  Gnomon  Pavilion  can  be  separated  from  the  Pier01  Restaurant/Café  space  by  the  River  Room  increasing  the  privacy  of  functions  held  within  this  space.    The  Gnomon  Pavilion  can  be  extended  into  the  adjacent  foyer  to  increase  guest  numbers  (seated  or   theatre   style)  or   this   space  can  be  made  available   for  breakout  or  display   space.  Access  can  also  be  extended  to  the  River  Room  if  additional  space  is  required.    The  Gnomon  Pavilion   can  accommodate  up   to  80   guests   (seated  at   round   tables);   140   theatre  style  and  up  to  200  for  cocktail  parties.            

The  Foyer  Space  (Foyer)  The  Foyer  Space  is  available  for  individual  hire  (for  smaller  functions)  but  the  preference  is  to  use  either  the  River  Room  or  Gnomon  Pavilion  with  the  Foyer  to  be  provided  as  additional  space.    

Pier01  Restaurant  and  Café  (Restaurant/Kitchen  Space)  The  Pier01  Restaurant  and  Café  space  is  available  for  exclusive  hire  and  use  of  this  facility  will  be  negotiated  independently  with  your  Function  Coordinator.    Pier01   can   seat  up   to  100  dinner   guests  with   space   to  be   increased   if   required  by  utilising   the  River  Room  and/all  Foyer  space.  

 

Combination  of  Spaces  Pier01   and   adjacent   rooms,  when   combined,   can   accommodate   up   to   400   guests   seated   for   a  function.  Functions  of  this  size  require  considerable  work  from  the  Pier01  team  and  will  require  extensive  planning.    It   is   essential   for   functions   of   this   nature   that   your   numbers   are   committed,   with   menu  requirements  at  least  10  days  prior  to  the  function.

Event  Space  -­‐  Decoration    

All  spaces,  individually  and  collectively  have  great  presence  and  ambience.      You   do   have   the   option   to   decorate   these   spaces   specific   to   your   function,   creating   an  environment  that  matches  your  needs  …  just  a  few  rules:    

§ No   confetti   or   other   similar   product   (Cleaning   fee   will   be   charged   if   products   of   this  nature  are  used)  

§ No  naked  flames  (tea  lights  within  hurricane  glasses  are  fine)  § No  smoke  machines  § Please  refrain  from  adhering  things  to  walls  § If   candles  are  used  as   table  decoration  a  cleaning  charge  will  apply   if  wax  needs   to  be  

removed  from  table  cloths.  

Event  Space  –  Music    

All  of  our  event  spaces  have  facilities  for  music,  both  background  or  live  music.    If  your  preference  is  to  have  music  as  a  major  social  component  of  your  meeting/conference  we  recommend   a   DJ,   Band   or   Jukebox   and   your   Function   Coordinator   may   negotiate   these  arrangements  on  your  behalf  (if  required).      If   you   choose   to   use   your   own   music,   please   supply   your   own   MP3   Player.   The   Function  Coordinator   on   the   night   has   the   right   to   reduce   volume   level   in   accordance   with   noise  restrictions/policies  as  per  our  license.    

Event  Catering  

Food  All  functions  require  catering  and  all  guests  must  be  catered  for.  Minimum  charges  will  apply  for  all  functions  including:    

§ Cocktail  Parties  § Dinners  § Business  Events.  

 No  additional  food  (excluding  cake)  can  be  brought  into  Pier01  or  functions  hosted  by  Pier01.    

Cake  Guests  may  negotiate  with  their  function  coordinator  the  supplying  of  their  own  cake  for  special  events.    Cakes  may  be  used  to  replace  desserts  for  special  events.    A   Cakeage   fee   will   be   charged   to   cover   costs   of   service   of   cake   including:   plating,   cream   and  raspberry  coulee.

                   Beverages  In  accordance  with  Pier01’s  liquor  license,  all  beverage  requirements  must  be  provided  by  Pier01.    Beverage  packages  will  be  negotiated  with  individual  function  organisers  with  a  variety  of  options  available  to  meet  your  specific  needs.    In   accordance  with   Pier01’s   liquor   license   the   bar  will   close   at   12.00  midnight  with   last   drinks  offered  at  11.50pm.        If   you   do   wish   Pier01   to   seek   an   extension   to   this   time   please   discuss   with   your   Function  Coordinator.    Please  advise  us  if  there  is  anyone  under  the  age  of  18  attending  the  event.        All   of   our   indoor   event   spaces   are   smoke   free   and   we   will   not   serve   alcohol   to   minors   or   to  intoxicated  guests.    

 BEVERAGE  PACKAGES  OPTIONS  

1. Running  a  Bar  Tab  –  we  can  run  a  tab  for  you  according  to  your  instructions  including:  a. Amount  you  want  to  allocate  to  the  Tab  b. Time  you  may  want  to  allocate  to  Tab  c. Specific  drinks  you  may  want  to  include  on  Tab  (Wine  and  Beer  only  etc.)  

 

2. Open  Bar  a. Guests  pay  as  they  go  for  their  individual  beverages.  

 

3. Discounted  option    a. Combination  of  the  two  options  above  with  negotiated  prices,  i.e.  

i. Boag's  on  Tap  -­‐  $6.50  per  glass:  Charge  to  the  guest  $3.00  –  Charge  to  the  Tab  $3.50  

 YOUNGER  GUEST  OPTION  

§ A  young   guest’s   package   including   food  and   soft   drinks   can  be  negotiated  with   your  Function  Coordinator  

 

SPECIAL  NEEDS  If  you  or  any  of  your  guests  have  any  special  dietary   requirements  we  are  more  than  happy  to  arrange  catering  to  suit  individual  needs.  Please  ensure  you  inform  your  Function  Coordinator.

ALTERNATIVE  EXTRAS  The   following   options   can   be   provided   and   charges   will   be   negotiated   with   your   Function  Coordinator:    

Social  Function  § Dance  floor    § Printed  menu  for  each  table  (if  required)  § Lectern  and  microphone  § Sound  system  &  speakers  including  CD  player  for  background  music  § Room  set  to  your  individual  requirements  § Table  decorations  –  skirts  etc.  § Chair  covers  &  sash—colour  of  your  choice    § Event  cake  to  your  requirements  –  POA.  

 

Interstate  Friends,  Relatives  and  Colleagues  Guest  from  interstate  can  travel  to  Tasmania  with  the  following  options:    

By  Air:  QantasLink  into  Devonport  Airport     –     20  minutes  from  Ulverstone  Virgin  or  Jetstar  into  Launceston   –     80  minutes  from  Ulverstone  Regional  Express  into  Burnie   –     45  minutes  from  Ulverstone  

 

By  Sea:  Spirit  of  Tasmania  into  Devonport  –  20  minutes  from  Ulverstone  

 Pier01  can  provide  a  shuttle  service  to  and  from  Devonport  and  Burnie  for  function  guests  only.    

External  Services  Pier01  works  closely  with  a  range  of  local  business  and  service  providers  –  please  see  the  Pier01  Events  Service  Directory.    

Amendments  to  Package  Charges  All  package  rates  will  incur  a  15%  surcharge  for  events  held  on  Public  Holidays.      Events  which   include   lunch   in  preference  to  dinners  and  are  completed  by  3pm  will   incur  a  5%  reduction  in  all  hospitality  charges.
