Deakin Uni will be closed from Weds 24th Dec, reopening Mon 5th Jan

Please note, during this shut-down period, the resi office will continue to

operate 24 hours, just with a reduced team on board to assist you.

During the week starting the 22nd December, Shared Apartments will only

be cleaned on Tuesday 23rd December. They will not be cleaned on

Friday 26th December. Studios will be cleaned as normal that week.

We hope everyone on res enjoys a fantastic festive season!

Deakin University employs cleaning staff to clean all apartments within the

residences (once a week for studios and twice a week for shared

apartments).

Throughout the period of occupancy the resident is responsible for maintaining their room at a standard of cleanliness and tidiness

acceptable to the Campus Residence Manager.

In order to adhere to these health, hygiene and safety requirements, residents are NOT permitted to refuse the cleaners entering their apartment

at any time—whether this be communicated verbally or with a sign on your

door.

Apartments left in an unhygienic condition are a health and safety risk so

the residences management team reserves the right to make any

intervention deemed necessary to return a unit to an appropriate level of

cleanliness.

Residents who have concerns with cleaning should contact the Residences

Office.

BBQ chicken & sweetcorn burritos

Ingredients

Method

1. Brush the corn lightly with half the

oil and cook on a moderately hot

barbecue grill for about 10 mins

turning occasionally to cook evenly.

Set aside until cool enough to

handle.

2. Meanwhile, brush thigh fillets with

oil and sprinkle lightly with chilli powder. Cook on a barbecue flat plate for 5

mins each side or until cooked through. Transfer to a board.

3. Using a small sharp knife, cut the corn kernels from the cob. Toss with the

avocado and lime juice and season with salt and pepper to taste. Finely

slice the chicken.

4. Warm the tortillas on the barbecue then serve with the remaining

ingredients for everyone to make their own burritos. Garnish with coriander if

desired.

3 tablespoons vegetable oil 800g chicken thigh fillets

2 medium avocados, peeled

and diced

2 tablespoons lime juice

3 large tomatoes, chopped 1 1/2 cups grated cheddar

cheese

4 corn cobs, husks removed Mexican chilli powder, to

sprinkle

10 flour tortillas Coriander leaves, to garnish

1/2 iceberg lettuce, shredded
