Interested in a leadership (RL or BEARS) position in 2016?

For anyone interested in a leadership position on res in 2016, it is highly

recommended that you attend the “You the Man” presentation that is

coming up in Burwood.

You the Man is a theatre-based program that highlights how bystanders

can interrupt cycles of relationship violence and abuse. The program

comprises a 35-minute play followed by a moderated discussion with a

panel of local experts from the host community. The program empowers

men and women to step out of a passive bystander role and practise safe

intervention.

More than 1700 people attended You

the Man performances in Victoria in

2013-14. 80% of participants said seeing

You the Man increased their sense of

being able to take action on behalf of

someone else. Come and see it for

yourself!

Burwood performance: 21 July 2015, Richard Searby Room. Refreshments

from 12 o'clock and performance from 12.30 to 2.30 pm. Register here.

diversity/campaigns-networks-events

Once you have registered, please forward your confirmation email to

[email protected] to let us know.

Jono will be taking a list and attending the event himself to see who is

willing to commit to becoming a positive leader on res in 2016.

Under no circumstances are residents permitted to bring in additional

furniture to their rooms/apartments.

This is for the safety of all residents as extra furniture can hinder fire

evacuation procedures.

The only extra furniture allowed is a bar fridge. The fridge can be no

larger than 140 litres and meet the approx. dimensions of 82cm (height),

48cm (width) and 55cm (depth).

Please remember that as part of your lease agreement, it is your

responsibility to keep your own ovens, stoves, bedroom areas and

dishes clean.

Housekeeping will only vacuum

communal areas and wipe down/mop

wet areas.

They won’t clean areas if there are

personal belongings blocking

access.

Chicken, Corn and Risoni Soup Ingredients

Olive oil cooking spray

1 medium brown onion, finely diced

2 teaspoons salt-reduced chicken stock

powder

6 cups boiling water

2 (400g) chicken breast fillets

2 sweet corn cobs, husks removed

1/3 cup dried risoni pasta

1 large zucchini, trimmed, finely diced

75g baby spinach

Chopped fresh chives and Cheesy herb toasts, to serve

Method

1. Spray a large saucepan with oil. Heat over medium heat. Cook onion, stirring, for 5

minutes or until softened. Place stock powder and boiling water in a large heatproof jug.

Stir to dissolve stock. Add mixture to pan. Bring to the boil.

2. Add chicken and corn. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer for 10

minutes or until chicken is just cooked through. Remove chicken and corn. Set aside for 5

minutes to cool slightly.

3. Meanwhile, add pasta to pan. Simmer for 10 minutes or until pasta is tender. Using 2

forks, shred chicken. Cut kernels from corn cobs. Return chicken and corn to pan. Add

zucchini. Simmer for 2 minutes or until zucchini is tender.

4. Remove pan from heat. Stir in spinach until just wilted. Divide soup between bowls.

Sprinkle with chives. Serve with Cheesy herb toasts (go to www.superfoodideas.com.au

for recipe).
