History

The current Basilica was built to replace The old one that was ruined by a fire on March 29, 1922.

Architecture

Built by Mr. Maxime Roisin of Paris and Mr. Louis N. Audet of Sherbrooke.

Construction began July 6, 1923 and parts of it are still not complete.

Constructed in the form of a Latin cross.

Neo-Romanesque in stlye. Granite came from the

quarry at Saint-Sébastien, in Beauce, QC.

Mosaics

All mosaics are dedicated to St. Anne, the grandmother of Jesus. The mosaics are the work of Mr. Auguste Labouret.

Stained-glass Windows Sculptures

There are 240 stained-glass windows

Mr. Émile Brunet built the stone statues and Mr. Franz Moroder built the wooden ones.

The Bells

There are 9 bells at St. Anne de Beaupré.

6 were installed in the south tower.

The 3 heaviest bells were installed in the north tower.

Their total weight is 43,087 pounds.
