M ike and Jovita havebeen married or sixyears. Tey met in a rehabprogram, during a praise and
worship service!She was singing and she
was glowing, remembersMike. Tats what attractedme to her her beauty.
But due to what Mikecalls stupid decisionmaking, the couple hasntalways been together.
I was sel-destructive,Mike says. I used drugs. I
didnt handle responsibilitieslike an adult. I was selshand made bad choices.
Jovita also had a problemwith drugs. I was out onthe street with no place togo. I woke up one day by arailroad track and thought,What is wrong with me?
She got in touch withMike, who was in asubstance abuse program inOakland, and rom there,they both came to theRescue Mission.
We were reallyblessed. We are able to
work some things out. Godhas us here to work on ourmarriage; work on growingcloser to Him, together.
Teyre givingus a chance todo it right.
Both agree that i it hadntbeen or the Rescue Missionand our Family Centerwhere they can live,receive counselingand worship together,
they would stillbe apart andmost likelyhomeless.

their daughter and theirgrandchildren back intotheir lives!

Every month at the RescueMission, we rely upon the helpo more than 550 volunteers
who help us to care or thehomeless and desperately
needy and every month,more than 1,500 peoplecome to the Rescue Missionto donate ood, clothing, andhousehold items.
In an average month, weprovide more than 150,390meals or the hungry while weshelter 7,412 people. Also, wedeliver care packages to 413homeless people on the streetsthroughout the Bay Area (and
we invite them to come tothe Rescue Mission where wecan help them to change theirlives).
And every month weare blessed to know thathundreds o compassionate

Christmas in July?Everyone loves Christmas! Tecelebration o our Lords birthis a time o hope and joy when wealso reach out to those who are lessortunate sharing His blessings withneighbors who are alone, troubled orin need.
Christmas is also a time when
those who support this ministryare most generous. In act, over theholidays, we receive 48% o our gitsor the entire year! We are the best
stewards we can be, but sometimes, bysummer, we start to eel the pinch.
