Inspirational Learning on the Mornington Peninsula Swimming Swimming Pool The college is fortunate in having a well-maintained indoor 25m swimming pool on site. The pool is fully utilised for student curricular and extra-curricular health, PE and outdoor education programs and it is also a widely used community resource. The pool is utilised by primary schools for learn to swim programs and outside school hours it is operated by Kiddieswim and home to Mornington Flyer’s Swimming Team. House Swimming Sports Each February, at the beginning of the school year, a number of swimming events are scheduled, starting with swimming days for year 7 and year 8 students and culminating in a compulsory college-wide house swimming day at the Pines Forest Pool in Frankston. Students are allocated to one of four Houses - Tuerong, Balcombe, Beleura and Coolart and are encouraged to dress in their house colours and support their team. The enthusiastic atmosphere and large numbers of competitors in serious (and not so serious) events ensures a festive, energetic and exciting carnival, enabling all students to be involved in some way or another. Swimming Squad The College swimming squad trains four times per week all year round and caters to all skill levels. The squad is aimed at improving student’s fitness levels, achieving personal bests and developing a sense of belonging to a team. This training is provided at no charge to students. The development of the College swimming program over recent years has gone from strength to strength, resulting in a record number of students competing in School Sport Victoria swimming events. Mornington Secondary College has won the Southern Peninsula Swimming championships for the past five years in a row. The college placed first in the Southern Metropolitan Region swimming and diving championships for consecutive years. College Houses, Tuerong Sharks (Blue) Beleura Redbacks, Coolart Crocs (Yellow) and Balcombe Stingrays (Green). The College swimming costume.
