    Drive Away Authorization System (DAS)

    Engine CAN Overview & Diagnostics

Controller Area Network (CAN) A digital communication link between multiple Electronic Control Modules

    (ECM).

A 2 wire, bi-directional communication link with data transmitted according to

    priority.

    Message specific addressing

CAN C - Engine CAN (also known as chassis CAN) Fast communication

speeds 125 kbps or 500 kbps.

CAN B - Interior CAN (also known as body CAN) Slow Communication

speed 83 kbps. Information from CAN C can be sent to control modules on the CAN B or vice

versa via the Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS).

EIS (Electronic Ignition Switch)The electronic ignition/starter switch control module (EIS) acts as the communication points between the

passenger compartment bus (CAN B), the electronic engine control (ME-SFI) and the electronic transmission

    control (ETC).

What are the circuit provisions of the EIS module N73?

How does the EIS N73 act as the communications point?

How do you version code the EIS, and what components are version coded to the EIS?

What is DAS? The DAS immobilizes the engine control modules

After 40 starts, it marries itself to the engine control module

With DAS 2, the access authorization is given using the remote control of the central locking system. Data is tranferred by IR (Infrared light (IR)

EIS signals Keyless GO (KG) to what control modules?

What is the RF signal produced by the KG key?

How does the Keyless GO card operate the interior systems like the seats?

D2B and MOST: What is the advantages of D2B and MOST? What is the difference in D2B and MOST? What function does the RING Master perform? What is RING Lock, and how does this work in D2B and MOST? What does version coding play in the D2B and MOST Bus?

BMW CAN Bus Systems 2008The CAN Bus is a two wire bus used to allow communication between powertrain related components and systems.

The CAN network uses a twisted pair configuration which also uses two terminal resistors of 120 ohms each for a total

    circuit resistance of 60 ohms.

With all of the new CAN systems that are out there on BMW, it would take years to collect the information and

knowledge. This Seminar will cover the entire spectrum of these systems.

Technicians need to be familiar with the CAN Bus principles and how they operate before diagnostics can be

    performed efficiently and productively.

Ultimately, if the Technician does not know the system that he is diagnosing, how long will the diagnostics take?

Loss of productivity. Loss of shop hours. Loss of revenue for the entire shop.

This BMW Training Seminar will make the Technician familiar with the CAN Bus systems.

Therefore, making the Technician smarter at what he does best, only to improve the qualityof work and the satisfaction of fixing it right the first time.

Listed is some of the coverage in this Training Seminar: Power Supply and Batteries

    Power Management Systems

    Battery Safety Terminal (BST)

    Intelligent Battery System (IBS)

    Electrical Energy Management

    Bit Serial Data Interface (BSD)

    Power Module (PM) E65

    RADSOK (E65)

Power Distribution Center (JBE) E90 CAN Bus Principles for Coding

Understanding the operating principle of serial bus

    CAN Bus (Controller Area Network)

    D-Bus (Diagnostic Bus)

    M-Bus (Motor Bus)

    P-Bus (Peripheral Bus)

    LIN-Bus (Local Interconnect Network Bus)

    I/K-Bus (Intrument and Body Bus)

    MOST-Bus (Fiber Optics System) Overview

    PT-Can (Powertrain Can Bus)

This is an intensive Training Seminar . A Diagnostic Training manual is included. Register early for

this seminar, as seating is limited and classes fill quickly.

    Volkswagen - Audi

    Advanced Data Block Diagnostic

Evaluations 2008Volkswagen & Audi On-Board Diagnostic systems use live data streaming in the form of Data

Blocks. The decyphering of this information can be a major challenge for most Technicans.

This Technical Training Seminar is designed to help the technician use this information to interpret

the systems relationship to the componets and how they interact with the On-Board systems.

The goal of these Technical Training Seminars, is to help Technicians better understand the

complexities of these new generation systems and increase their diagnostic skills, productivity and

    profitability.

This Diagnostic Training Seminar will focus on Volkswagen-Audi AdvancedData BlockDiagnostics. In particular we will cover functional Diagnostics, Basic Settings, Data Blocks,

Adaptation, and Coding. Additional Diagnostic coverage.

    Readiness Generating and Monitoring Diagnostics

    Diagnostic Data Block Decyphering

    Instrument Cluster and Immobilizer Diagnostics

How to think Outside the Box Diagnostics

    Misfire Recognition Diagnostics

Throttle Valve Control Module Diagnostic Label File Construction

    Long Coding Topology and Diagnostics

    LIVE Data Block Diagnostics

    Charge Pressure Control (Turbocharger)

    EVAP Control Diagnostic Data Blocks

    O2 Sensor Diagnostic Data Blocks

    Engine Speed Synchronous Path

    CAN Bus Diagnostic Data Blocks

    Airbag (SRS) Diagnostic Data Blocks

We request the Technicians that attend this seminar to bring their laptops, or a memory stick in

which diagnostic information will be available for download.

All information shared with the technicians that attend will be diagnostic information not available

from any source but Euro-Diagnostic Resources and ESAT, Inc.

There is a rotary-vane pump that draws fuel from the

fuel tank through the fuel filter, and a high-pressure

pump that pressurizes the fuel and distributes it to the

injectors. The injection pump driveshaft turns the rotary-vane

pump, distributor plunger, and camshaft plate as a

    single unit.

What Data Blocks are viewed when performing pump

    timing?

Registration 30 days prior to the Training Seminars will receive a $30.00 discount.

Breakfast and Lunch items will be served during the seminar.

Seminar class size is kept a maximum of 30 Technicians. FREE 10 Day Trial on Euro-Diagnostics TSG (Technician Support Group) Site to attendees.

The ID transmitter contains the following functions: Incorporates the normal remote control buttons

Able to receive signal from transmitting vehicle antennas

Transmission of encrypted high frequency information

    Mechanical Keys

    Signal encryption

The radio signals of the Remote Control are encrypted

by means of a variable (rolling) code.

The rechargeable battery voltage is monitored independently by the Remote Control and

    signaled to the CAS.

Up to four Remote Controls may be assigned to the vehicle for remote services (not

EWS, which may have up to 10).

Frequency range for U.S. changed from 315Mhz to 868.4Mhz.

The MRS 5 control unit is secured centrally on the body floor panel (center tun-

nel -between the handbrake and the gear selector lever) by two nuts. Access to

the control unit is only possible when the main floor carpet is removed from thevehicle.

The MRS 5 can be encoded via the K-CAN.

Diagnosis of the MRS control unit takes place via

the diagnosis bus in the gateway module of the

junction box which then forwards the diagnosis

    commands on the K-CAN.
