The Program:
During the 2012-2013 season, the Mississauga Hockey League established a partnership MHL with Reli-
ance Home Comfort and created the Reliance Home Comfort MHL Fair Play Challenge, whereby teams at all
age and skill levels will be rewarded for “fair play” within regular season league play.
The idea is simple…to keep players out of the penalty box and on the ice.
“Fair play” and a focus on the MHL Discipline Emphasis Program over the past few years has helped to re-
duce player suspensions and injuries. Reliance and MHL would like to reward those teams and players who
consistently respect their opponents and the rules of the game.
Using historical Average Penalty Minute statistics for each level/colour, every MHL team will be monitored
through the course of the regular season and those who stay lowest BELOW their benchmark during their
MHL games will be declared the winners.
One award will be presented within the Minor Novice through Peewee teams, one for Minor Bantam through
Juvenile, and one for Gold and “A” teams.
Watch our website for ongoing updates and keep your stick on the ice!
Last years’ winners:
ME073 (Peewee Blue) in the Minor Novice to Peewee division
PC114 (Midget White) in the Minor Bantam to Juvenile division
PC100 (Minor Midget “A”) in the Gold and “A” division

Port Credit Minor Bantam “A” Team Give Back to the Community
Our Port Credit Minor Bantam A Team wanted to find a way to give back to the community this year. We reached out to a charity known as The Open Door. Located at Square One, this non-profit group serves families in need providing them counseling, food cupboard assis-tance, diapers, clothing, weekly dinners and more. They operate entirely by donation and we assisted their volunteer team with their monthly clothing drive this past Thursday night. The players and coaches helped to load up two pick up trucks with boxes and bags containing donations of clothing and miscellaneous items. The trucks then drove briefly to another unloading area and our players unloaded the trucks, carried the items to their distribution room and sorted the boxes in an organized fashion. They also had opportunity to distribute a token pin to some of the families attending their supper club and received a tour and a presentation about the agency and the services it provides. It was a physical workout for them and required some teamwork, but it was certainly different from being on the ice! The boys and their families also showed their support to the agency by bringing in non-perishable foods, clothing and books that will be sorted and distributed to the families. As a team they were very pleased to do this helpful task and they are asking when they might be able to do again! Cathy Shintani Parent Volunteer Chris Lamoureux Head Coach
