General Information Residence halls are divided into communities of 30-60 residents. Some communities are
single-gendered and some are mix-gendered.Resident Assistants live in each community. They are staff members available to provide assistance, coordinate activities or programs, and be a resource.Most buildings have community style bathrooms. Each building also has all-gender bathrooms
available.We encourage everyone to engage with their roommate(s) before move-in.
AmenitiesReception desks are available in all residence halls. Desks provide a variety of services, including
mail delivery, items for check out (board games, cooking equipments, vacuums, rubber mallets for lofting for furniture), and lockouts.
Each residence hall has a sauna available to residents and escorted guests.All residence halls contain a laundry facility. Washing machines are free, and dryers cost $.25 per
10 minute cycle. Laundry pods are recommended.There is one music practice room located in Wadsworth Hall. It is set up for all students to practice
their instrument or sing. A key can be checked out at the Wadsworth Reception Desk.

Theme CommunitiesThese are specialized communities that focus on a major theme throughout the year. ThemeCommunities complete a year-long project focused around their theme. Past projects have included:
Women in Engineering (WIE) - STEM Day at local elementary schoolsFirst Year Experience (FYE) - First year survival guide Tree House - Wildlife survey of animals around the Keweenaw
What to Bring to CampusMini-fridge and/or microwave
Storage totes
Appropriate shower items (shower caddy and shoes)
Personal items (posters, pictures, comfort items, area rug, desk lamp)
Clothing and shoes for each season
Laundry supplies
Bedding (sheets are Twin XL/80 inch) and mattress pads
Box fan
Coaxial cable, ethernet cord, extension cords and power strips

Residential Student OrganizationsEach residence hall has its own student organization. Hall organizations represent the studentbody of the hall. They plan social events, purchase items for the reception desk, and provideforum for students to voice concerns through appropriate channels. All students are able to participate in Hall Councils.

Quad Core Fitness CenterLocated in each of the residence halls, the Quad Core Fitness Centers (QCFC) are available to
members living in each respective hall.Access to the QCFC costs $60 annually. This includes 24 hour access to QCFC facilities. This can
be paid on your MyMichiganTech account.
Bike StorageAll bikes must be registered with the Department of Public Safety and Police Services. Winter
storage is provided through each residence hall association.Each residence hall association will send email notifications to all students living within their
respective halls about storing bikes over the winter months.
Weapons StorageAll weapons and ammunition must be registered and stored with Public Safety and Police
Services. No firearms, bows, ammunition, blades over three inches, air soft guns, paintball guns, or any
other weapons are allowed in the residence halls.
Move-In GuidelinesLabel all of your boxes and belongings with your name and room number.Personal pets are not allowed in the buildings during move in or at any time (unless they are
non-predatory fish). You may want to find a pet sitter or other accommodations for your family pet.
Michigan Tech is a vapor/smoke/tobacco free campus.Remember that no furniture is permitted to block windows because of fire codes. Any
furniture found blocking windows will have to be moved immediately. Please contact Residence Life staff during move-in if you have any questions.
