MY BROTHER
My brother’s name is John. He’s 22 years old, and he works as a waiter.
He gets up at ten o’clock in the morning, and he always has lunch at home.
Then he goes to work at five o’clock in the afternoon. He works until midnight and he never goes to bed before one o’clock in the morning.
He likes soccer, reading and cooking but he doesn’t like cleaning or making the beds.

Find likes and like (paragraph 3). When do we use likes? And like? How many verbs in the composition end in – s? Why?
Find always and never in paragraph 2. Are they before or after the verb? Before or after the subject of the verb?
Diana uses the form likes for the third person singular because she is talking about her brother John (he). She uses like in the negative with doesn’t.There are six verbs which end in –s: works, gets, goes, works, goes and likes, because this is the verb form for the third person singular he in the affirmative.
Always and never go between the subject and the verb.
