Oracle Lifetime Support Policy• Premier Support

– Premier support provides full product support, product fixes, critical patch updates, certification with existing 3rd party products and certification with most new 3rd party products.

• Extended Support– Extended support provides many of the benefits of Premier support

with the exception of certification with most new 3rd party products. Most Oracle Hyperion products are not available for this level of support.

Hyperion Enterprise 6.5 Overview

• Hyperion Enterprise 6.5 represents one of the more major releases of Hyperion Enterprise.

• 3 major items were addressed that should benefit most companies: – Smart View for HE – Application Backup utility– Server Administration

• Hyperion Enterprise 6.5 offers increased software support (Office 2007, Vista).

• Hyperion Enterprise Reporting includes a few useful improvements.

Hyperion Enterprise Administrator Features

Hyperion Enterprise 6.5 contains many improvements focused on administration including:

Administrator Features• Application Backup & Restore Utility

– Performs backups while users are in the system.– Can perform tasks during routine (Consolidation, data load, etc)– Can be executed manually or programmed. Backup profiles can be set to back

up a single application or multiple applications. Profiles can be set to execute daily, weekly, monthly, etc.

– Can restore a previously backed up copy of the application.

• Message Server– Can broadcast messages to users who are logged onto Hyperion Enterprise

before and during the application backup process. – Messages can be tailored to those logged onto the application and to those

attempting to log into the application during a backup. – All users can receive messages regardless of the rights assigned to them.

Administrator Features Cont.• Server Administration

– Manage all of your Hyperion Enterprise servers from a common utility. – View server status and database settings of all servers.– Start, Stop, and Restart server services.– View / Modify database path, server file locations, settings, etc.

• Enhanced Logging– Error messages pertaining to the Data Entry, Database, Consolidation and

Journal modules now displays user ID, category and entity information.

• New Security Reports– A new Security Access report exists in the Security Module in addition to the

existing Security reports. – Information includes user’s names, groups, rights and password status.– Report is dynamic and provides filter / sorting and printing / exporting options.

Smart View Integration• Smart View is a common Microsoft Office interface. This common

interface allows Hyperion data to be pulled into Microsoft Office products such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint.

• Same interface for retrieving Oracle Hyperion data:– Hyperion Enterprise

– Hyperion Planning

– Hyperion Financial Management

– Hyperion Essbase

• Smart view allows for retrieving data via Formulas (similar to Hyperion Retrieve) and through Ad-Hoc drill (similar to Hyperion Analyst).

• A conversion utility exists to convert Retrieve spreadsheets to Smart View sheets.

– Database and Data Entry now has Options to view Label, Description or Label and Description.

Hyperion Enterprise Reporting New Features• Expanded Label Character Limit

– Reports and Book sets can now have names up to 20 characters.– This was increased over the previous 8 character limit.

• Hierarchy-based folder structure– Report and Book sets, Reports and Books are now managed through a folder

structure similar to Microsoft Windows Explorer.– Reports / Books can be created, edited or deleted within the folder structure.

• GhostScript– Hyperion Enterprise reporting now supports GhostScript for PDF generation of

reports and / or books.

• @Ask through Hyperion Enterprise Web Reporting– The @ASK function can now be used in Hyperion Enterprise Web Reporting.

Hyperion Enterprise 6.5 Technical Support• Client items (Windows client, External Security Services and the

Statutory Consolidation Engine) are supported on Windows 2000 SP4, Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista.

• Server items (Application, Data and Web server) are supported on Windows 2000 SP4 and Windows 2003 SP1.

• Hyperion Enterprise web is compatible with Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 1.5.0.3 and Firefox 2.0.

• Smart View is compatible with Office 2003 and Office 2007.• SQL and Oracle drivers are no longer supported.• Lotus 123 and Sites are no longer supported.• All components can be Removed, Added or Repaired after install.• Localized languages.

Hyperion Enterprise 6.5 Conversion• Application Conversion utility options exist to convert to version 6.5.

The options range from converting specific application components to converting the entire application.

Summary – Why Upgrade to Hyperion Enterprise 6.5?• Hyperion Smart View for Hyperion Enterprise allows users to

perform ad-hoc analysis, formula retrieval and integration with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

• The Backup and Restore utility provides a much more reliable backup process (while users can be in the system).

• Server Administration simplifies maintaining multiple servers.• Support for Vista and Excel 2007.• Upgrades are always a good chance to clean up an application and

remove any accounts / entities / categories that are no longer used. Cleaning up an application can save time, improve performance and allow the app to expand to new reporting requirements.
