Dance

Jenny was plain, not pretty like some other girls. Indeed, in ronto the mirror, Jey sometimes elt ugly, worthless, ad uloable.High shool tees ted to be at least as shallow as adults, so kids at

shool made Jeys lie miserable. She wet to all the shool daes,bu e wa ee aked o dae. Te oe g eaed e meey,

ad the boys ote raised her hopes oly to let her dow.

She had dressed up i her prettiest lothes, put o her makeup, ad

gone to the dance with high hopes. Someone would surely ask her

to dae. But all through the dae she sat aloe o a hair ext to

the wall. A ouple o times her heart leaped whe a boy ame towardher, but the her heart sak whe he asked oe o the other girls to

dae. ears drehed her pillow that ight. Ager, bitteress, ad

pai roked her to sleep.

But the the remarkable happeed. A restless, tul sleep was sud-

dey aomed o a maeou, aa deam. I e deam e

was at a magiet daethe spetaular dae hall was lled toperetio with streamers ad laughter ad musi. Siler balls hug

rom the ceiling, spraying bits o light that fashed over the entire

gatherig, boued rom the dae oor, spilled o the walls, ad lit

orhid orsages. Jey was dressed i her est, stadig aloe ext

to the wall.Suddey e doo wug oe, eeag e mo adome ma

she had eer see. He was so beautiul that all the daers stopped

in midstep just to look at him. He made his way across the dance

oor right to where Jey was stadig. With a smile o his ae, he

looked into her eyes, held out his hand, and said, Jenny, will you

dae with me?

She was stuedshoked to disbelie. She desperately searhedae e owd o deeme wee wa a aa joke. Wee

isisted, Jey, Id like to dae with you. At that momet, with

her heart o her sleee, she trusted that he sierely desired to dae

with her. She would dae!But Jey didt kow how to dae. No oe had eer asked her

beore. Ad ee though she elt lumsy ad awkward as the had-

some strager whisked her to the dae oor, she oud hersel saely

i his arms. Soo she was daig with abado, thrilled to disoer

are i the world, her soul oerowig with joy. She ould dae!

with all my heart and all my soul and all my strength. Cautiously,

she searhed his eyes. She ould see the passio o his uoditioal

loe. Ad suddely she kew the ame o this beautiul strager. She
