MAKING PAYMENTS ONLINE
The Department of Education have launched an online
payment portal linked to our school’s website to make it
easier for you to pay for school related payments. This is
a secure payment page hosted by Westpac.
Payments can be made for the voluntary school contribu-
tion, excursions and other events that occur at our
school. (payments for P&C and canteen cannot be ac-
cepted online - this includes uniforms).
To make a payment online just go to our school website
(google Chatham Public School) and click on “make a
payment” (appears above the photo on the homepage).
Follow the prompts to make the payment via Visa or
Mastercard.
Please clearly identify who the payment is for and what
the payment is for, for processing at the school office.
STAFF CARPARK A reminder to everyone that the Staff Carpark (entrance off Chatham Ave) is for staff only. We ask parents/caregivers not to use this entrance. It is a safety issue for all students that this is enforced. We thank you for your cooperation on this matter.

REPORTING TO PARENTS AND CARERS
In week 10 parents and carers will receive their
child's student report. A couple of newsletters
back I wrote outlining the assessment processes
that your child's teacher followed when writing
student reports, and some suggestions as to how
your child can help you best understand their stu-
dent report. Following are some points I would
like to repeat about student reporting ...
The report you will receive is a snapshot of
your child’s learning – a point in time;
This report is of the learning your child has
experienced during semester 2 – Terms 3 &
4;
Sit quietly with your child and read their re-
port together.
EARLY ACTION FOR SUCCESS (EAfS)
Since 2014 Chatham Public School has been in-
volved in Phase 1 of EAfS, a Department of Edu-
cation initiative. Phase 1 will now be followed by
Phase 2 due to outstanding results for student
learning and teacher professional development.
Chatham Public will again be offered a place in
the EAfS program of which I have the privilege of
managing. I look forward to building and
strengthening systems and processes for our
school community's continued involvement. The
benefits for our students and their teachers are
realised through the high quality teaching and
learning programs developed which focus on stu-
dents acquiring positive, engaging learning, every
day.
HOLIDAY HOME READING AND NUMERA-
CY ACTIVITIES…
Many students, with the wonderful support of
their families, have made huge leaps in their read-
ing and reading activity. As a staff we would like
to support all our students to continue these
The more you read the more you know!
STAGE 2 DAY AT WINGHAM
Congratulations to all Stage 2 students who travelled to
Wingham last week to visit Wingham Nature Reserve
and the Wingham Museum. The students demonstrated
our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Endeav-
our throughout the day and both the National Parks and
Wildlife Ranger and Museum staff complimented all
groups on their behaviour and the interest they showed
in the information that was provided.
There was plenty to see and learn at both locations about
our local areas natural and social history.
Some comments from the students about the day:
“It was cool that we got to see the animals in the rainfor-
est”,
“There were dead bats but that was because they don’t
have enough food because of the drought”,
“I loved the environment. We saw bush turkeys, bats and
everyone loved it. At the museum there was a lot of his-
tory and I liked how I learnt how people did things back
then”, and
“I liked seeing all the rocks and minerals and the gaol cell
that they kept Jimmy Governor who was a bushranger”.

WEARING OF HATS
Please ensure your child has a hat in their bag each day
they come to school. Students love to play out on our
grassed areas but cannot do so if they do not have a
hat on. We do encourage a school hat but other brands
of hats are permitted.

School is proud to
be a part of the
ACMF Program.
"DYLAN THE THERAPY DOG" Students at Chatham Public School love Dylan's vis-its and he loves coming! Dylan and his trainer, Peta, have been visiting our school every Monday afternoon for the past few weeks. Selected students have spent some time with Dylan and Peta. Zac Ridgeway, Elim Kim, Ashleigh Barlin, Latoya and Shontaya Clark, Robert Bungie and Toby Wil-son have become 'dog whisperers'. Their language and social skills have improved. They take turns to give Dylan commands to do tricks and to 'read' him stories. The joy on their faces and the giggles and laughter is priceless. Pictured below are Dylan and Peta with students in our 'Quiet Room'. The 'Quiet Room' is an alternative space for students to go at recess. Mrs Gleeson Learning & Support Teacher
