A FEW WORDS FROM OUR PASTOR
On Tuesday (March 19th), the Church celebrated the Feast of Saint
Joseph. Here at Saint Saviour Parish, we are quite blessed to have two Sisters
of Saint Joseph present. We have Sister Pat Rutter, CSJ, who serves as the
Director of our Children’s Faith Formation Program, and we have Sr. Mary
Walsh, CSJ, who helps in and around our parish. We would like to take this
opportunity to wish Sister Pat, and Sr. Mary Walsh a very Happy Feast
Day—and we thank them for their many years of ministry and service to the
Catholic Church both here in Brooklyn and on Long Island. We also wish all
those Sisters of Saint Joseph who worship with us each Sunday here at Saint
Saviour a Happy Feast Day as well—you are always welcome here!!
I also want to say a word of “THANKS” to all those parishioners who
came out yesterday for our Lenten morning of prayer and Reflection with
Deacon Paul Norman. Deacon Paul certainly gave us a few things to think
about and pray over as we continue on our Lenten journey. I want to say a
special “Thank You” to Marianne Mangual for all her hard work in preparing
and making all that soup we enjoyed Saturday. It truly was the most
delicious home-made soup ever! I also thank Sister Pat and our 8th grade
students from both Saint Saviour Catholic Academy and our Parish Faith
Formation Program for setting-up and serving and cleaning up afterwards as
part of your confirmation Service Initiative.
Don’t forget about all the other Lenten activities and services we
have going on throughout this most important liturgical season of Lent.
We have many things going on—unfortunately, not many people are
participating. Allow yourself to take advantage of the many spiritual and
social opportunities being provided this Lenten Season. You might just be
surprised by what the Lord is trying to say to you!

MITE BOXES
The ways that we, as Catholics, can live as disciples of Jesus & members of the church include the works of mercy. The Corporal Works of Mercy are acts of love that help us to care for the physical & material needs of others. Here at St. Saviour our young people in our Faith Formation program have been working on almsgiving this Lenten season through the church’s tradition of the mite box. We ask our young people to please return their mite box on Sunday, April 7th.
