THE HARD HAT NEWS

T.W. Frierson is growing! As we enter the last quarter of our fiscal year 2014, we are projecting a volume of $115 M to $120 M and we already have similar sights for growth revenue in FY 2015. “Growth for growth’s sake” has never been and will never be a goal of T.W. Frierson. Dollar volume is not what makes us successful- great and profitable projects, safely completed on time and in budget is what makes us successful. This is our goal with all of our Owners, every year and on every project. Our growth is a direct result of the success of our relationships which are the foundation of TWF.

Another form of our growth brings more complicated projects- from intricate pits and beautiful Churches to our

experience with fast paced work with tremendous pressure on deadlines. Also, we will never forget continued Safety success- which alone is impressive considering the amount of self performed work we complete.

T.W. Frierson is actively and intentionally growing in several ways:

- We are very excited to announce the creation of TWF’s “Superintendent University” that will be implemented this fall . The goal of this program is to prepare current employees to be Superintendents. The curriculum is set and we are very excited about this endeavor. - We are also actively engaged to add project management capacity. - In our Accounting Department, we are enhancing our skills and efficiency with a new time entry system. You may remember we also added capacity last year to our already skilled group, with the additions of Jane Kidney and Teresa Kennedy filling very specific roles. - In July, DCi added another Architect to the staff, Tommy Brown. - In August the Pre-Con Team added Tom Gregory and his sales experience to enhance our abilities to get work. - We are safely setting new levels of success with our self performance capabilities, both in concrete and pre-engineered steel erection. - DSB is on track for a $10.0 million year with Butler Manufacturing - We can see and measure growth in our project resume, with a 1.5 million square foot distribution center on track to be completed in 9 months, as well as our largest Church project to date starting this summer.

We continue to add new clients, building again for past friends and their friends, and adding new people to the T.W. Frierson Family. The fuel for our growth is our relationships. We build relationships internally, with our subcontractors, suppliers and our incredible Owners every day and with every successful project. These relationships create our future construction opportunities and should never be overlooked or forgotten in the excitement of the positive momentum we are experiencing today. Our future looks bright! Dean and I thank each and every person for what you do every day with T.W. Frierson.

NEWS

CONGRATULATIONS TO ONE OF OUR OWN! In the thirty plus years that Rick Jones has been with the T.W. Frierson Contractor , Inc. organization, he has worn many hats including Estimator, Project Manager, Safety Manager, and currently is our trusted Loss Control Coordinator. During his time at TWF, Rick has also entrenched himself in the Construction Specifications Institute (C.S.I.), a non-profit technical organization formed in 1948, and dedicated to the advancement of construction technology through communication, research, education and service. After holding almost every other office in the organization, Rick has been inducted as the President of the award winning Gulf States Region Chapter. As the longest tenured employee for T.W. Frierson in the office, Rick is a poster child for the culture we hope to continue; he is always there when needed, and is a friend to all. Whether getting a permit pushed through so a project can start, dressing like an Elf and answering phones at the Codes Department so the administrators can go to a Christmas luncheon, or just being a familiar face on the jobsite, Rick is the man. As CSI continues to serve the interests of Architects, Engineers, Contractors, Product Manufacturers and everyone else in the construction industry, we offer him a hardy Congratulations and good luck!

NEW FACES

Tommy Brown joined Design Constructors, Inc. this past July as a Project Architect. Tommy is a native Nashvillian, has two children and enjoys working on his ‘fixer-upper’ house , ice hockey and coaching lacrosse. He is a graduate of the school of Architecture at the University of Tennessee, but he still roots for his hometown team as a Vanderbilt football fan.

Earlier this month, Tom Gregory joined the TWF family as the Sales Manager for Design Systems Builders and T.W. Frierson Contractor, Inc. Originally from Virginia Beach, VA, Tom has spent the last 7 years in Hoover, AL and the previous 13 years before that in Kentucky. Tom has been married for 17 years and has two boys and a dog. He enjoys spending time with his family and traveling.

Originally from Chattanooga, Teresa Kennedy joined TWF to assist our growing accounting department. When she’s not working, Teresa enjoys playing golf, pottery and being a grandma (not necessarily in that order!) She has two grown children, two grandchildren and an Australian Shepherd fur baby.

Prior to working for TWF, Jane Kidney worked for Hickman and Taylor in an administrative role. She is now semi-retired, but assists the accounting department as needed and is our receptionist every Friday. Jane loves spending time with her family and reading.
