The SPEAKER. The Chair is not certain of what the plans of the majority leader would be on this, but the Chair discerns the question that the gentleman, Mr. Piccola, wishes to raise, and of course, the Chair would have to run the calendar before we could go into the next session because we did not finish the calendar.

Mr. PICCOLA. Okay, Mr. Speaker. May I advise the Chair that it would be my intention to object to the passing over of SB 797 and SB 973, should those bills come up on the reading of the calendar.

The SPEAKER. The Chair recognizes that it is the gentle- man's right. The gentleman will expedite matters if he will inform his own leader of his intentions and inform the major- ity leader of his intentions, and perhaps we can get this ironed out.

* I CONSUMER AFFAIRS COMMITTEE MEETING

The SPEAKER. The gentleman from Berks, Mr. . Caltagirone, has called for a Consumer Affairs Committee meeting at the rear of the hall of the House at the break.

HOUSE SCHEDULE

The SPEAKER. The Chair recognizes the majority leader. Mr. MANDERINO. Mr. Speaker, the programmed com-

pletion of the budget and Superfund, of ESBE (equalized 1 subsidy for basic education), school subsidy, and related 1 budget matters is being done by senior staff both in the House

and in the Senate. Vehicles are being located; nonconcur- rences will be necessary to place bills in conference. All of that is expected to take place later today, not before 4 o'clock.

After the bills are positioned in the next day's session, there will be conference committees that will be held this evening on a number of subjects; bills reported back to the House and to the Senate so that in tomorrow's session all matters related to the budget, all matters yet to be concluded that have been agreed upon can take place.

We will not need members in session here before 4 o'cloc'. but the leaders will be working to identify all of the things thy have to be done, all of the bills that must be positioned at 4 o'clock so that conference committees can be held this evening so that we can finish our work tomorrow.

It is the intention of the majority leader and I believe the minority leader to await all of the attendant details so that everything can be explained to the caucuses that there are still questions about, because I think most of the members on issues that they are concerned with have inquired and have been given information, but we will have formal caucuses tomorrow on everything that we will be doing in detail, and I would expect that we would be able to finish tomorrow our session and return to the Capitol after the November election.

Mr. Speaker, I would ask that we recess to the call of the Chair and the information be given the members that we do not expect a recall prior to 4 o'clock this afternoon.
