Stations of the Cross during Lent Thursdays at 12:20pm with the children and Fridays at 7:00pm in the church. The Season of Lent: there are several weeks of Lent during which you are still invited to join our Lenten Life in Christ Series that will continue on until March 22 nd just before Palm Sunday. And don’t forget about Stations of the Cross on Thursdays at 12:20pm with the school children and Fridays at 7:00pm. Please begin bringing your Rice Bowls back to the Church any time and place them in the collection, or bring them to the church office. Penance Service will be at 4:00pm Sunday, March 11 th with neighboring priests available. CFSA, (Catholic Family Sharing Appeal) which is the yearly fund drive for the Bishop and the Diocese, began last week. Your gift helps many diocesan agencies each year, including: seminarian education, counseling services, youth ministry, and the Bishop’s Bulletin. Our Parish Goal for this year is $67,000. You should have already received your support envelope from the Bishop . Please prayerfully consider a gift to this year’s appeal. To help you decide, Please ponder the following meditation: Each of us must come to the realization that all that we are and all that we have comes from our loving God. In a commitment to our faith and as good stewards of His gifts, we set aside a percentage of our income to enable the Church to minister to the needs of all. We are called in the Old Testament to tithe 10% of our first fruits and in the New Testament we are challenged to give of ourselves completely. An approach that is suggested is to consider giving 5% to your local parish, 1% to Catholic Family Sharing Appeal and 4% to other charities. Perhaps you’re not ready to tithe now but as you consider your gift, take time and reflect on the following points—Our gifts must be: Prayerfully Planned -- This is a decision that requires prayer, thought and time. We are not called to give merely what we have left over but we are called to prayerfully consider our gifts and resources. Proportionate -- Our giving is proportionate to what God has given us. We give in proportion to the gifts we’ve received. If your family has had difficult times, one should carefully evaluate your gift; if through prayer you have experienced great blessings we are called to be accountable through our giving. Sacrificial -- To “sacrifice” means to make sacred, not to give until it hurts. Through sacrificial giving “we make sacred” the work of our daily lives. Praying about our decision is necessary to truly offer it from the heart. Thanksgiving -- Our offering is a grateful response to the immense love God has shown for us. God is first in our lives. We are only responding to what God has already done for us. PARISH OUTREACH NEWS ANN’S Q-TIPS

From Avera:

Metabolic Syndrome

What is Metabolic Syndrome?

Metabolic syndrome is a combination of 3 or more metabolic

conditions associated with increased risk of cardiovascular

disease and diabetes. People with metabolic syndrome are more

likely to develop coronary heart disease or diabetes, and also

increase their risk for a heart attack. Knowing the conditions

associated with metabolic syndrome and ways to help manage

these conditions can help reduce your risk.

Metabolic syndrome is when a person is diagnosed with 3 or

more of the following factors, or if they are taking

medication for any of these conditions: ● Large waist circumference

o Women: 35 inches or more

o Men: 40 inches or more

● Low HDL Cholesterol

o Men: less than 40 mg/dL

o Women: less than 50 mg/dL

● High Triglyceride reading: 150 mg/dL or higher

● High blood pressure: 130/85 mm Hg or higher

● High fasting blood sugar (blood glucose): 100 mg/dL

or higher

Next week how to prevent and treat metabolic syndrome.

Changing the world one family at a time How precious is the family as the privileged place

for transmitting the Faith. ~Pope Francis~

In these days of Lent we gather our prayers with and for

those who are preparing for Sacraments within our parish

family.

April 15th at a special Mass 2:00pm over 40 of our young

people will receive their First Communion. As Christ

enters their life in this special sacrament, may we share that

same Christ with each of them.

May 6th at a special Mass at 1:00pm, our Bishop Paul

Swain will confirm almost 20 of our young people. As

these students prepare for their commitment to their

Catholic Faith; may we strengthen our faith as well.

Living station practice

Begins on Wednesday February 28th at 6:30pm and

each Wednesday till the presentation of the

Living Stations on March 28th.
