Projection Lamp: Periodic replacement of the projection lampwill maintain the picture quality.See the “Replacing the Lamp” section of the manual.
Wide Mode: Selecting the appropriate screen mode will increaseenjoyment of your TV viewing.
When watching a Standard Definition source (4:3 aspectratio) on this TV, you will see bars on both the left and rightsides of the screen. Press the WIDE button on your remote tocycle through different screen modes to fill the screen invarious ways. (Wide Zoom enlarges the center, Normal ishow your TV receives the signal, Full stretches horizontallyand Zoom enlarges the image proportionately to fill thescreen.)
When watching a High Definition source (16:9 aspect ratio)on this TV, you will see the screen filled with an image. Pressthe WIDE button on your remote to toggle through differentscreen modes, especially zooming in to the center of thescreen. (Wide Zoom enlarges the center, Full displays theimage at its original size, Zoom enlarges the imageproportionately to fill the screen.)
When the TV receives a 720p or 1080i formatted signal, theNormal mode is not available. See the “Using the WIDEButton” section of the manual.
If you feel the images on the screen are stretched, press the WIDE button to select adifferent screen mode.
Notes on your new TVRunning Initial Setup
1 Press to turn on the TV.The Initial Setup screen appears.
2 Press V or v to highlight the on-screendisplay language. Then press .The message “First please connectcable/antenna” appears. This may require 50+ minutes forcompletion and “Start auto program now?” appears.
3 Press (Yes) to start Initial Setup.
Initial Setup automatically creates a list ofreceivable channels from both VHF/UHFantenna and cable TV channels if bothsources are connected.
When Initial Setup is complete, the TVwill display the total number of analog channels and the totalnumber of digital channels found.
4 Press to exit this screen.
To run Auto Program again at a later timeRefer to the manual on “Initial Setup” and “Auto Program” sections.

Best Audio/VideoPerformance
Activating CableCARD™ ServiceBefore you can use CableCARD service, you need to insert theCableCARD device (supplied by your cable provider) and activatethe service.
Inserting the CableCARD incorrectly may result in permanent damage to the card andthe TV.The connection diagrams shown on the reverse side arerecommendations only; other possible solutions mayexist. Connections that include an AV receiver can oftenbe complex, so check your AV receiver’s instructionmanual for additional details.See the “Cables Required” chart that appears with thediagram to determine which cables you’ll need.Depending on the components you plan to connect, youmay need to purchase extra cables.
1 Connecting Your TV
Programming the Remote Control
The remote control is preset to operate Sony brand video equipment.
Sony Equipment Programmable Code Number
DVD/VCR 751 (Sony Dream System)
SAT/CABLE 801 (Sony Satellite Receiver)
i.LINK 901 (Sony DVD Player (i.LINK))
If you have video equipment other than Sony brand that you want tocontrol with the TV’s remote control, use the following procedures toprogram the remote control.
The equipment must have infrared (IR) remote capability in order to be used with thisremote control.
Using the code list below, find the three-digit code number for themanufacturer of your equipment. (If more than one code number islisted, use the number listed first.)
1 Press repeatedly until the DVD/VCR, SAT/CABLE or i.LINK indicator lights up.
2 Press for five seconds until theindicator of the selected input flashes.
3 While the desired indicator is flashing, enter thethree-digit manufacturer’s code number.
4 Press .
To check if the code worksAim your TV’s remote control at the equipment, and pressthe button. If the equipment responds, theprogramming is completed. If not, try the next code listed.

If no code is input within the above specified time, or an invalid or incorrect codenumber is input, the remote control automatically goes back to the previous setting.In some cases, you may not be able to program your remote control to operate otherequipment. In such cases, use the equipment’s own remote control.Removing the batteries or dead batteries may cause the programmed codes to be lostand revert back to the factory setting. Reprogramming the codes may be necessary.
Making Audio/Video ConnectionsYour new TV includes various types of video inputs and two typesof audio jacks; composite-RCA type and digital audio (optical).Use the outputs/inputs that are available on your components thatprovide the best video/audio performances:
