Kindergarten News Term 3 Week 4 What’s Happening in Kindy … What a start to the term! So far, we have had Grandparent’s Day, 100 Days of Learning and the chicken’s! What a busy few weeks we have had! Our Grandparent’s came to visit in Week 2 for our Grandparent’s liturgy and the children could show their learning during open classrooms. They were excited to share the chicks and explain how they had changed as well as making some chicken puppets. On Monday week 2 we had 10 eggs delivered from Living Eggs as well as an incubator and a brooder box. We learnt how the incubator was a special box where the chicks would be at the correct temperature just like they were still under the mother hen. On Tuesday, the eggs started to crack and on Wednesday we came in to find that three of our chicks had hatched overnight! The children have been so excited to watch the chickens hatch and grow over the last two weeks. It has been a wonderful experience that has taught the children lots about what living things need to thrive. On Thursday, last week we had our 100 Days of Learning celebration. The children participated in activities to show 100 and presented a liturgy and learning item to parents in the afternoon. It was a great day showing how far our kindy’s have come! This Week in Kindy … On Thursday, this week St Joseph’s community is celebrating 20 years since the school began. The day will begin with a liturgy with lots of previous staff members attending. The day will continue with some fun activities for the children based on the 90’s and finishing with a whole school photo. We have started learning about subtraction and are talking about ‘takeaway’ and how many less than when describing subtraction. We are learning about different farm animals in shared reading and have created texts describing the features of farm animals.
