See a demonstration of how to use the Cornell Lab Ornithol-ogy’s eBird System to log and keep track of all your bird observations. He is an HMBC member and has served on the Board of Directors. The library is lo-cated on Albany Shaker Rd., off Exit 4 of I-87.

10,000 MEALS IN 60 DAYS
CLIFTON PARK - In celebra-tion of National Food Month, we’re helping improve the nutrition of 10,000 seniors across the country. This month as well as last month, we’ll be visiting seniors, many of whom live alone, and bringing them nutri-tious, home-cooked meals. We’ll also provide a friendly face and some good con-versation to ensure they are able to get the nutrition they need every day. According to the American Academy of Family Physicians, nearly one in 10 seniors in America suf-fer from poor nutrition. This can exacerbate problems already common among seniors, including depres-sion, improper healing, and a depressed immune sys-tem. Our goal at Emeritus at Colonie Manor is to ensure that seniors are living “Safely somewhere,” whether they are being cared for at an Emeritus community, an-other senior living environ-ment, or at home. The very cornerstone of a safe and se-cure environment is ensur-ing people are getting the proper nutrition they need to lead a fulfilling and pro-ductive life. If you know of a senior who could use a nutri-tious meal and some good company, please contact the Emeritus at Colonie Manor community at 783-8695.

CALLING ALL MENTORS!CAPITAL DISTRICT - I am I can is a 501(c)3 organization that was created to mentor girls in grades 9 - 12. Programs pro-vide needed encouragement, guidance and advocacy to students as they navigate their high school years and move toward post-graduation goals. We are seeking adult female mentors to work with students on a weekly basis. As a men-tor you would spend time with and get to know your student, while developing a relationship that provides support and guidance. If you are looking for some meaningful volunteer work, this may be for you. This program focuses not as much on job skill mentoring, but more on providing a positive role model in the student’s life. You will help the student to de-velop core values and “encourage young women to discover their dreams, to believe in endless possibilities while empow-ering them to make it happen”. The organization is currently looking for mentors in the Clifton Park to Glens Falls areas. Immediate needs are to support girls in Hudson Falls, South Glens Fall, Glens Falls, Shenendehowa, and Ballston Spa school districts. If you have time on a weekly or bi-weekly ba-sis and would like to have a positive impact on a girl in your community, please contact Founder, Avon Scherff at 518-688-3010 ext 102, or email [email protected].
