St. Peter Armenian Church Annual BazaarWATERVLIET– The women of St. Peter Armenian Church in Watervliet, have been working tirelessly for weeks preparing gourmet flavors for the annual Holiday Bazaar over the week-end of December 7 and 8. This two-day event will feature a wide variety of popular Armenian foods to stock up your freez-er, family and musical entertainment, local vendors, and a cash and children’s raffle. Some of the ethnic food items prepared for both eat in or take out include dolma (lamb stuffed peppers), porov kufteh (large stuffed meatballs), lahmejune (Armenian pizza), string cheese, hummus (chick pea dip), babaganoush (eggplant dip), cheese beoreg (cheese and filo triangles), and yalanchi (stuffed grape leaves). Delicious dessert items, such as paklava, cheoreg (rolls), and kurabia (sugar & butter cook-ies) will be sold in the “Hye Bake Shop” along with Califor-nia dried fruits and homemade jams. Santa will be on hand for exciting photo opportunities the entire weekend. In addition, Victor the Clown will provide free balloon art creations for the children, and Phil Singer will offer black & white caricature sketches for $5. A variety of vendors will display their handi-work while the St. Peter Bookstore will feature amazing and unique Armenian-made items in time for the gift-giving season. And to help prepare those gifts to be placed under the tree, there will be a “Wrap a Gift, Give a Gift” free gift-wrapping station offered. Just leave a donation that will be put towards assist-ing families in need during the Holiday season. The Women’s Guild of the St. Peter Armenian Church sponsors this Bazaar, and this year they are excited to present a newly-published Ar-menian Cookbook that will be on sale for $20. Another great gift idea for family, friends and co-workers! The event is open to the public with free parking and admission. Sponsorship opportunities are available. For more information, contact the Church office at 518-274-3673.

Nana Nana Banana, Fe Fi Bo Nana, Nana! That’s me! I’m a firm believer in the saying that you are only as old as you feel! My body may be eleven years old, but on the inside, well...I’m basically a pup! I’ve got a spring in my step,

and I’ve been told that I’m too boisterous for cats and smaller animals. I will do just about anything for a treat, ask me to do my tricks for you! Until recently, I had a home to call my own for my whole life, I’m a bit confused

as to why I’m here. Don’t get me wrong, I’m having a ball here at the shelter with my friends, but I would really love to have a home to call my own!

Capone is a handsome Mastiff/Pittie mutt. This guy is very smart and already knows the commands for: sit, paw/shake, speak, down, and roll-over. He is

ready and willing to learn even more.

Hello there, I’m Marty, a soft and handsome orange lad. My nose has the cutest freckles, and my coat is nice and thick. I sure like to have it petted

because I’m a very affectionate puss. I’m vocal about letting you know when I’d like some company. You can pick me up for a snuggle and then

you’ll hear my fine loud purr. I am such a good boy. My story is rather sad. Some years ago I was adopted, but my family recently abandoned me.

When the shelter called them to let them know I was here they never came for me. It is hard to learn you are not wanted, and I’ve been feeling sad. All

I need is to share love and have a forever home. How about yours?

Hello, I’m Kitty, a little torbie girl - my coat is tiger with some orange. I recently had kittens, but they’re all adopted. My former family had

financial issues so they couldn’t keep us. Now that my motherhood duties are finished, I need a home for myself. I am a sweet and friendly girl with a strong purr. I am fine with being held and I give nice head butts, too. Now I’m ready to relax, run around and chase things like a young girl should.

Let’s play ball!

According to the American Automobile Association 2012/13 Year-End Holidays Travel Forecast, holiday trav-el has experienced a steady increase in volume over the last half-decade. Despite the sluggish economy, travel dur-ing the 2012/2013 end-of-year holiday season, defi ned as the period from Saturday, December 22, 2012 to Tues-day, January 1, 2013, was ex-pected to be its highest since the 2006/2007 end-of-year holiday season, when 93.7 million travelers ventured at least 50 miles from home. De-spite the cost of travel, travel volumes have traditionally re-mained very stable, with only one yearly volume change of 5 percent or greater, which was a 5 percent decline in the 2007/2008 season from a year earlier. One possible reason behind the steady nature of the end-of-year holiday travel season is the season’s length. It remains the longest holiday season of the year, affording travelers more chances to vis-it friends and family members and/or go on vacations.
