Love God-Serve God Love Others-Serve Others
Make Disciples
Jesus said to the crowds: “This is how it is with the kingdom of
God; it is as if a man were to scatter seed on the land and would
sleep and rise night and day and through it all the seed would
sprout and grow, he knows not how.
Of its own accord the land yields fruit, first the blade, then the ear,
then the full grain in the ear.
And when the grain is ripe, he wields the sickle at once, for the
harvest has come.”
He said, “To what shall we compare the kingdom of God,
or what parable can we use for it?
It is like a mustard seed that, when it is sown in the ground,
is the smallest of all the seeds on the earth.
But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the largest of plants
and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the sky can dwell
in its shade.”
With many such parables he spoke the word to them as they were
able to understand it. Without parables he did not speak to them,
but to his own disciples he explained everything in private.

Mass Readings
Pastoral Council meets Thursday, June 18th, 7pm in Padre Hall.
Finance Council meeting is moved to Tuesday, July 7th, 6:30 pm in Padre Hall.
From June 21st the vigil of the Feasts of St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More to July 4, Independence Day, American
Catholics can dedicate themselves to a "fortnight for freedom." Culminating on Independence Day, this special
period of prayer, study, catechesis, and public action would emphasize both our Christian and American heritage of
liberty.
In the weekday Gospel readings these
days, we hear from Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. The Beatitudes (blest are
the poor in spirit…) shows us the inner Heart of Jesus. The surprising and direct
teachings from Matthew 5-7 show us what is possible for a disciple, with an
undivided heart. While the days heat up and summer events multiply, while we
prepare to honor fathers, we do well to follow Jesus without excuse. What we
hear, what we ponder, what we pray for, will show up in our actions.
Fr. Ron will be gone on vacation June 22-July 3.
Tuesday, June 16th 2 Corinthians 8:1-9 Matthew 5:43-48 Wednesday, June 17th 2 Corinthians 9:6-11 Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18 Thursday, June 18th 2 Corinthians 11:1-11 Matthew 6:7-15
$30,000 Challenge: St. John’s Parking Lot
At the St. John's finance and building committee we
talked of current improvements, and prioritized future
work.
We have saved half the monies needed to surface the
parking lot, put in the sidewalk, curb, approach, drainage
and move the light pole.
We still need $21,280 to be able to proceed
with this project which will be a great
improvement for parking.
Some can give more and some
less…together it all makes a difference!
God and Father of us all, in Jesus, Your son and our Saviour,
You have made us Your sons and daughters
in the family of the church. May Your grace and love
help our families in every part of the world be united to one another in
fidelity to the Gospel. May the example of the Holy Family,
with the aid of Your Holy Spirit, guide all families, especially those most troubled, to be homes of communion and prayer and to always seek Your truth and
live in Your love. Through Christ our Lord, Amen. Jesus, Mary and Joseph pray for us.
