EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES IN KINDERGARTENMaria Diamantopoulou’s Internship
PROJECT FOR GAMES AND TOYS AROUND THE WORLD
This project took part at the last year of my Internship (2014).
I was the leader teacher of the classroom and I had a teacher assistant.
I was in charge of 12 children 3,5-6 years old. The project lasted 2 weeks and had 6 parts.
1ST PART: CULTIVATING CHILDREN’S INTEREST AND TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THEIR PREVIOUS
KNOWLEDGE AT THE TOPIC
1ST PART At 1st part we did 2 organized activities of 45
minutes each. We spread at all classroom all kinds of toys so
children could be curious. We displayed pictures of different games and toys
and we used brainstorming teqnique with their ideas then, we gathered them at colorful cartons.
We watched videos of children all around the world and the games they play.
We gathered all the information at another carton. To sum up and let kids process the activities we
closed the activity with a drawing they did with themselves and their favorite toy.
2ND PART AND 3RD PART: CREATING QUESTIONS AND DESIGNING THE ACTIVITIES TO ANSWER
THEM Children were asked to bring their favorite
toy from home and present it to their friends. We played the game “statues”. We made an histogram with their knowledge
about games around the world. Later in day we tried to create our questions
about games and what we wanted to learn. We made a histogram of the questions. We thought were we could find the answers
(books, internet e.tc.).
4TH PART
We did 4 organized activities to answer kids’ questions.
5TH PART: SUM UP
We made a histogram with everything we did and learned these previous days.
6TH PART: PRESENTATION At 6th and last part of project we thought with
kids to present this project to their parents so we made a short film with kids who presented every part of the project on camera.
AND SOME 45 MINUTE ACTIVITIES WITH NO SPECIAL PREPERATION WITH THE THEME OF MATHS, SCIENCE, LANGUAGE,DRAWING E.TC.
MATH ACTIVITY
Tangram game: Kids are separated on groups of 3 and they are trying to form the animals with the shapes.
DRAWING ACTIVITY
Children use crayons to paint some boiled eggs and then we place them in a bowl with red organic polish. (this is a tradition during Easter at Grecce)
LINGUISTIC ACTIVITY
Personal id: We created a personal id with children and we asked their eye and hair color, the season the were born and their favorite animal.
