  • Standards: ELAGSE6RI2: Determine a central idea of a text and how it is conveyed through particular details; provide a summary of the text distinct from personal opinions or judgments. ELAGSE6L3: Use knowledge of language and its conventions when writing, speaking, reading, or listening. ELAGSE6W4: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience. ELAGSE6W5: With some guidance and support from peers and adults, develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, editing, rewriting, or trying a new approach How do we determine central idea and respond to writing prompts? How and why do we vary sentence patterns? Skill Development: Timed writing and Informational Icees

Hello Parents, This week, students had the opportunity to view parts of the movie Twister to help enhance their learning on the formation of air masses and tornadoes Students also conducted their own cooking show in class by demonstration the three different forms of energy transfer. Next week students will review the material from Unit 4 and will complete their unit test on Friday. Students are also asked to bring in two two-liter bottles for an experiment with tornadoes. What Students Will Learn Describe what happens to solar energy that reaches Earth. Summarize the processes of radiation, thermal conduction, and convection. Explain the relationship between the greenhouse effect and global warming.

Last week, the students learned about the Aztec Empire.

This week the students will start learn about Mexican

Revolution, and how Mexico became a nation. Im

looking forward to exciting week with a great attitude

towards learning. Im looking forward to another exciting

MGSE6.G.4 Represent three-dimensional figures using nets made up of rectangles and triangles, and use the nets to find the surface area of these figures. Apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.

Hello Parents, Last week we analyzed how to measure the volume of a rectangular

prism, with fractional edge lengths. As well as, we determined the

appropriate units of measure that should be used when computing

the volumes of a rectangular prism and cube. Next week we will

justify why different rectangular prisms have the same volume.

Then transition into nets of solid figures allow students to

calculate the surface area of three-dimensional figures.
