Newsletter Term 4 Week 5 I am often having conversations with people about our school. I find it a pleasure to talk about the many wonderful things that are happening in classrooms and throughout the co-curricular program. The teaching and learning is of a high standard and students are challenged to develop their skills and understanding. We celebrate the opportunity to broaden students outlook on life, through the offering of the School, through programs such as our Intensive Learn to Swim Program that will be held over the next two weeks. Also, a great opportunity for 4 students from our school at this weeks Public Speaking Competition, at Tuncurry Public School. The very best of luck to Mitchell and Kadesha from yrs 3 & 6 on Wednesday and to Jack B Yr 4 and Adam in Yr 5, this Friday. We are very proud of you attending this event. Last Friday night was another highlight in the school calendar with the Friday the 13 th Disco night. Congratulations to all students who behaved perfectly and came dressed amazingly. It was a fun night and many thanks to the staff who assisted and to our hard working band of P&C parents, who provided dinner, cleaned up and as usual supported the school. A big thank you to our great Music Lady Paige Linke the lights and smoke machine were cool and we were all ‘PUMPED”. The Bulahdelah Show is on this weekend and our school will be displaying a static display of our wonderful work. Please if attending take the time to have a look at what we have presented. This Wednesday we will have a quick assembly as Paul Holbrook manager from Bunnings at Forster will be presenting a brand new BBQ to the P&C/school for the Christmas raffle, as well as sporting equipment. Take some time during the week to reflect on some of the positive experiences that your child is having at school. I look forward to catching up with many members of the School community as we move into the end of year activities. Creating Future Leaders Mrs. Rebecca Langdon .

Newsletter Term 4 Week 5

I am often having conversations with people about our school. It was a fun night and many thanks to the staff who assisted and to our hard working band of P&C parents, who provided dinner, cleaned up and as usual supported the school. A big thank you to our great Music Lady – Paige Linke the lights and smoke machine were cool and we were all ‘PUMPED”. The Bulahdelah Show is on this weekend and our school will be displaying a static display of our wonderful work. Please if attending take the time to have a look at what we have presented. School Veggie Patch Our first crop has been harvested with one zucchini and 10 beans. The plot looks fantastic, with lush healthy crops almost ready to harvest. Congratulations to 5/6, Ms Parsonage and the wonderful help of Mr Wheeler. Very soon the patch will be an abundance of healthy food options for people to purchase at a reasonable price.

Kinder Orientation Last week saw the end of this year’s Kinder O days, for our new kinder enrolments for 2010. It was lovely to see so many happy smiley faces from our young visitors. Congratulations to Year 4 students, who were keen peer buddies for our visitors. The Peer Pals demonstrated maturity and enthusiasm towards their buddies. Congratulations. A big thank you to Mrs Courtney, Mrs Campbell and Mrs Waters who made the days a great success. Thank you to the P&C who once again supported the school in providing a lovely morning tea last Wednesday. We look forward to our new Kindergarten students in 2010.

Student Assistance If you are requiring financial assistance for your child/children to participate in school activities such as swimming, the Sydney excursion etc. please do not hesitate to contact me. I realise that it becomes awkward to ask, however I do have a small amount of money that may make an opportunity for child/children to attend and experience something they may never have the opportunity to do.

Parent helpers at school – Next Year. ‘Chess Team’ I am planning to develop a school chess group for next year. I am needing a parent/ grandparent who can teach the basics of chess to the students, at a lunch time in the library. Also….. If you are a parent, caregiver or grandparent and would like to become involved in various classroom activities at school I would be very happy to talk to you. Please contact me if you would like to help in your child’s/ grand child’s class. There is no set time that you need to be there, other than be regular on your set days.

Focus Week CORE RULES FOR STUDENTS

Core rules for student behaviour have been developed to establish consistent expectations in all government schools in support of community values. Parents and care-givers are role models and the main influence on their child’s character and behaviour. If parents and care-givers work together with the school to support the core rules this will lead to the successful education of our children. The department is committed to supporting principals and school staff, in order to promote the highest standards of behaviour and learning in our schools. We ask that parents and care-givers take the time to read these rules, and encourage their implementation at home, as we will be doing this for your child while he/she is at school.

P & C News

P & C A.G.M. - Will be held on Wednesday 2nd December at 3.30pm. All positions will be declared vacant. If you would like to nominate for President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Uniform Coordinator or Fundraising Coordinator please send in your nomination. Christmas Raffle - We have only had a couple of donations for the raffle and its looking a little sad at the moment. Please, we need everyone to send in anything Christmasy - food, decorations, dishes for the table, tablecloths etc. You don’t have to spend a lot of money. Just throw one more extra item in your trolley when you go shopping next. Thanks. School Disco - Thank you to everyone who helped at the disco last Friday night especially Kim Cross and Jen Breneger for organising everything. Canteen News - To encourage the children to order our new fresh salad cups & salad boxes we are running a campaign where they will receive a token for order-ing these products. Collect 3 tokens & exchange them for an ice cream (Streets Moo). They will also receive a sticker or other item with their order.
