Our Cooler Classrooms Project is about to begin. With this please take note of some important points:

This Thursday afternoon, a site office will be placed on the school grounds. This means on Friday, our back car park will be

closed for the duration of work taking place in our classrooms. The updating of air conditioners in some of the classrooms

will be greatly appreciated by all those in the designated spaces. Staff only will use this car park off Birch Ave.

Please refer to parking ideas and school access in last week’s newsletter.

If you normally pick your child/ren up from Down Under Place, please meet at the back hayshed. This is located down the

walker’s path towards Birch Ave. A teacher will walk the students down at 3.05pm. Meeting children here will provide a safe

area with shelter and seats.

Before and after school care will use the walker gate off Birch Avenue while the back car park is not accessible. It will be

unlocked during the relevant times by the ASC staff.

Your children may mention that their learning is taking place in another area of the school. Whilst we make every effort to

work with the contractors to minimise disruptions to classrooms, we are working on the old saying of “short term pain, long

term gain”!

All volunteers working with children at school are required to obtain some form of Working With Children check. This can be a free

online application through services NSW, or an “Appendix 5” may be filed with the school along with 100 points of ID. If you have any

questions, office staff are able to assist.

This Friday students will be participating in our local school effort to “Clean Up Australia”. We appreciate all those students who are

able to bring gloves on the day to participate in making our immediate area spotless.

During the day, our teachers are busy teaching. We appreciate, that at times the need for communication, however during class time

is not ideal. Please see teachers before or after school, make an appointment or send a message via a phone call or ClassDoJo, if it is

available. If teachers are speaking to you during class time, there is a chance students are being left unsupervised.

I look forward to seeing parents and carers at the parent/teacher interviews tomorrow evening.

Premier's Reading Challenge Starts on Monday 2 March 2020 and closes Friday 28 August 2020.

Find out your child’s logon details. For public schools, students’ logon will be the same one they use to access computers and the internet at school.

Help your child to add books to her/his Student Reading Record regularly. Log on and go to: Student Reading Records > enter books by ID or Title or Author. To enter a Personal Choice book, select the

‘Add a Choice Book’ tab > enter part of the title or author > select ‘Search’. If your book appears as an option, select ‘Add’. If it does not appear, scroll down to the ‘Still can’t find a book?’ section > enter the full title and author > select ‘Add’.

Check your child’s Challenge history – log on to the website, go to Student Reading Records and select tab ‘My Information’. If Challenge participation at a previous school is not listed, contact your child’s PRC coordinator.

Contact your child’s PRC coordinator if:

Your child has any difficulty using her/his logon details to access the PRC website.

You are concerned that your child’s name is spelt incorrectly in the PRC website.

Your child’s online Student Reading Record (SRR) must have the required number of books recorded to complete the Challenge by the student closing date. School PRC coordinators have an extra week to validate the SRR. Only students with a validated SRR are eligible for a certificate.

In the final weeks of the Challenge, log on regularly to the website to check the status of your child’s SRR. Contact your child’s PRC coordinator if you are concerned your child’s SRR has not been validated.
