THE YEAR OF MERCY CONCERT

I have been inundated with congratulatory emails and phone calls from many

people throughout the Parish expressing their joy and delight for a most uplifting

experience on Saturday 29th October 2016 at the Songs of Mercy Concert.

They commented on everything from the beautiful aqua scarves Zita supplied to

all choir members and musicians to provide a cohesive look; to the wonderful

variety in the programme of songs selected, where I was so wonderfully assisted

by Erica Marshall; to the ingenious way my niece, Sara Wainwright, created with

her violin an imaginary magic musical carpet to allow us all to be transported

around the world to the various countries of our songs, allowing me to set the

background and introduce each of the Mercy songs. The Combined Choir

performed splendidly, and we are so grateful to members of the Noosa Chorale

and the Laguna Choir for their contributions, thank you dear friends. This

Concert gave us all a lot of pleasure to practice and to deliver such a great

programme. The musicians shared their roles magnificently that their swapping

around was completely seamless. The parishioners did join in and were truly

uplifted by the experience. It was a most joyous event. The fact that it was a

thank you to all parish volunteers of the parish was a lovely sentiment, but this

was added to by the fact that we were also saying many thanks to both Fr Mark

and Fr Isidore, who have been appointed to new parishes on 3rd December 2016.

The enthusiasm that was shown by all, is testimony to the regard our two pastors

are held in the parish. This event was followed by a splendid Afternoon Tea in

the Church Hall, organized by Fred Harrison and her catering team. Just

delicious!

I would like to offer my personal thanks as Co-coordinator of this event, to all

who made this performance possible. This particularly must apply to Erica

Marshall, to Maria and Elaine and Michael of the Parish Office who helped with

printing programmes, sorting out music copyright, performing sound checks and

setting up the Church and finally, my liaison with Fr. Isidore to the Parish Office

to keep everyone in the loop. My best regards and warmest wishes to you all.
