APPLICATIONS OF 5S

WE CAN IMPLEMENT 5S AT SEVERAL PLACES . FOR Examples-

• OFFICE• WAREHOUSES• HOME• HOSPITALS• CANTEENS• KITCHENS• FACTORY• BUSINESS

How 5S Works - Simplified Examples:Example 1 at Work

• The plan is to organize, de-clutter put in good order the closet. Next step is to implement 5S. We organize and tidy the utility closet, hang the broom, change chemicals to an environmental safe product and have a supply of gloves for the staff to clean. The utility closet is organized, efficient and hazard is reduced or eliminated.

Example 2 at HomeThe plan is to cleanout the clutter, organize, Identify and arrange. Create a process for you to regularly inspect your home – i.e. check lists, fire extinguishers expiry dates, first aid kit

Take action to replace, recharge or refill outdated things.

Example 3 at ShopsFor shops: improved profitability, efficiency, service and safety.

The further you are from meeting your goals of clear, clutter free spaces, the more it may cost to implement and the greater the benefits you'll see as a result.

Example 4 at FACTORYAlthough the APPLICATION of the 5S methodology are in manufacturing, it can also be applied to knowledge-economy work, with information, software, or media in the place of physical product.

Example 5 at OFFICELean Office principles of 5S may seem mysterious at first, but are quite sensible when focusing on each one individually. After 5S-ing the office and committing to keeping it in place, you will be able to concentrate on the tasks at hand more easily, and productivity will increase.

Example 6 at HOSPITALS

Health care providers, particularly hospitals, are under significant

pressure to reduce costs while at the same time improving service and patient safety, reducing patient waiting times, and minimizing errors and associated litigation.

Example 7 at WAREHOUSE

Managing your warehouse takes a bit of time and effort but the improvement in efficiency cannot be discounted. The more efficient your warehouse becomes, the less you need to hire extra workers which results to savings on overhead costs. Customize your warehouse according to your business and watch your production grow.

Benefits of 5sThe benefits of 5S are:

• Cleaner and safer work areas—when a work area is clean and organized tripping hazards and other dangers are eliminated.

• Less wasted time through more workplace organization—when tools and materials are accessible and orderly, workers need less time to “go get” and less time to search.

• Less space—when unneeded items are eliminated and the needed ones are organized, required floor space is dramatically reduced.

• Improved self-discipline—the 5S system, especially its visual nature, makes abnormal conditions noticeable and makes ignoring standards more difficult.

• Improved culture—when 5S is applied systematically, it fosters better teamwork and enthusiasm.

Innovative Aspects . . .

Innovative aspects for home

The idea of implementing 5S in Home has many benefits like

In the houses, it gives a sense of pride to the family members when several guests and company officials visit their house; appreciate the effort of the family members for successfully implementing 5S practices. They also feel proud among the neighborhood when they receive gifts/prices for successful implementation of 5S

care has been increased by health inspectorateaccreditation organisations.
