Principal’s Report 11 th March 2019 Our Year 10 Peer Support Students have been working with our current Year 7 students since last year, building strong bonds and helping set them up for success in high school. They attended school camp with the Year 7 students and were instrumental in delivering the program and mentoring students. A huge thank you to our Year 10 Peer Support Leaders for their dedication and efforts, and to Ms Waite and her team for training and supporting these leaders. As the formal part of the program draws to a close, an assembly and BBQ will be held for Year 7 students and Year 10 Peer Support Leaders on Wednesday the 13th of March from 1.30pm. An invitation has gone out to the parents of all students involved, and look forward to seeing our student presentations and thanking the Peer Support Leaders at that assembly. Last week our White Ribbon team went to Canberra to present a video of our actions and efforts in becoming a White Ribbon school. White Ribbon is an organisation that works to end violence against women, and being a White Ribbon school means we take an active stand to stop the silence, and end the violence. The video our team presented was prepared by our student White Ribbon team, and was highly commended for the work and progress we have made in becoming a White Ribbon school. At assembly today, we showed the video to our student body, and reiterated the message that violence against women is unacceptable in our society. Many thanks to our team, who will continue to promote the ideals of White Ribbon, as they are also mirrored in our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Prosper. On Thursday 14th of March, we are having our annual Open Night. The Open Night runs from 5 – 7 pm and a host of activities and performances will be on display. This is a great day to showcase our school and talented students, and to open our doors to current and prospective families, as well as the wider community. Please try to find time to come and help us celebrate the truly outstanding school that is Crookwell High. At assembly this week, we congratulated Oti Trigas, who was successful in being chosen for the Australian team going to Spain for the World Freestyle Kayaking Championships. This is a truly outstanding effort, as any sportsperson dreams of representing their country. Well Done Oti! We also presented awards to students achieving Merit and Bronze in our merit system. Well done to those students for continuing to demonstrate our school values. Vero Joseph Principal Merit Award Winners
