Great Work!

This week I had some students visit to show me their great work. Corbin from K/6P visited to tell me how well he is working in class. Jake, Benjamin, Arthur, Ryan and Sarsha from KH shared their story predictions and Kaden from 1S showed me his improved writing. Ashley from 3/4L shared her Library research and Keinzley from KH visited with her great work.

Well done to Eli 2J and Alex 1S for reading 100 nights and congratulations to Aleisha KH, Maison 1B, Jackson 1/2H, Eva and Bodhi 1M, Jade 5/6D, Taylor 3/4G, Nikayla 2/3T for reading an amazing 200 nights.

Grandparents’ Day Thank you to all the Grandparents, family and friends who visited classrooms on Friday. It was great to have you here to spend time with your Grandkids. We hope you enjoyed the delicious morning tea prepared by our staff and enjoyed our dance groups, bands and choirs. Thank you to Niagara Park Public School staff for providing the morning tea and for organising the entertainment and thank you also to our students for their great performances.

Valley Schools Leaders’ Forum Our school Leadership Team are currently preparing their presentation for the Valley Schools Leaders Forum on Wednesday 6 November at Niagara Park Public School. I know they will present with confidence and skill and will represent our school with pride.

Grandparents’ Day

for their coordination and leadership with our team and best of luck also to our Stage 3 dance group who will be performing on the night. P&C Fundraiser The Obstacool Splash-a-thon is coming on Thursday 7 November. Sponsorship forms went home before the holidays. For every $10.00 raised, your child gets a ticket in the prize draw and every participant receives an ice block on the day. There are over $800.00 worth of prizes to be won. Students can wear a rash shirt with their swimmers and bring a change of clothes as they are going to get wet. All cards and money are to be returned no later than Friday 1 November to participate. So start collecting. Newcastle Permanent Mathematics Competition Our Stage 3 students participated in the Newcastle Permanent Mathematic Competition and achieved pleasing results. 45 students achieved merit certificates. Finlay, Elizabeth, Nate, Olivia P., Claire, Jaiden H., Hamish and Amira achieved distinctions and Jayden C., achieved a high distinction and was selected to attend Mathematics Camp. A great achievement. Bandfest On Monday and Wednesday our two school bands participated in Bandfest at the Lake Macquarie Performing Arts Centre. The students were great representatives for our school and showcased what they have been learning. Congratulations to the both the Geckos and Goannas who were awarded highly commended. A fantastic achievement! Thank you to Mrs Clarke for organising our school’s involvement and thank you to Rowan and Pauline for leading our school bands and conducting. Thank you also to the parents who helped provide transport and to Miss Moriarty for supervising. World Teachers’ Day This week we recognised World Teachers’ Day with a morning tea for our teachers on Thursday. We are very fortunate to work with teachers who put kids first, provide quality teaching and learning and are dedicated to doing the best possible job for our students. At Niagara Park we have a collaborative staff who are innovative in their practice and develop strong relationships with our community. TERM 4 STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL This term, the SRC are asking families to donate new books to The Smith Family’s Book Appeal for Australian

children living with limited financial advantages. Reading at home is very important to every child’s education

so by donating books, we can improve the educational opportunities for less fortunate children. During

November, collection boxes will be in each classroom. Another option available is to purchase books through

the current issue of Book Club, with books starting at $2.00. Orders through Book Club will be returned in time

for the Book Appeal. All books must be NEW. We thank you in advance for your support.

SPORTS ASSEMBLY Parents and carers of students in Years 2 to 6 who have represented Niagara Park Public School at swimming,

cross country and athletics are invited to attend our Sports assembly on Friday 8th November at 2:00 pm in the

school hall. Students who have achieved higher representative honours with Brisbane Water or Sydney

North will also be celebrated on this day.
