PARISH MISSION STATEMENT

As a Eucharist-centered, Giving-focused Parish, we strive to more fully know, love, and serve God, neighbor and church, while faithfully learning and living-out His Word.

WATCHFUL CONFIDENCE We the Church enter into Advent and the new liturgical year with a call for a watchful confidence. Our readings were originally addressed to communities undergoing great loss and confusion. Jeremiah speaks confidently of God fulfilling the ancient promises to Israel, even during a time of foreign invasion. Paul speaks of God leading the Church into holiness, while the community longs for the coming of Jesus. In the Gospel passage from Luke, Jesus speaks of powerful signs and of great confusion to come, but emphasizes that we may look forward knowing that God brings not cause for despair, but hope. We celebrate Advent to remind each other of God’s faithfulness. We are to be watchful, to see how God is stirring up our world. God disturbs both our pride and our complacency, and brings us healing and justice. We prepare ourselves to welcome Jesus, confident that God indeed fulfills all these divine promises. Copyright © J. STEWARDSHIP Hospitality Prayer Formation Service

1st Sunday of Advent “But when these signs begin to happen, stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at hand.” (Luke 21:28) We celebrate Advent each year in preparation for the birth of Jesus, His first coming, as we await His second coming. What will you do differently this Advent season to grow in friendship and love with Jesus? How will you inspire others to do the same? Start by sharing your God story with others, especially those closest to

you. Invite and accompany them on their faith journey this Advent.

MQOH Youth

The Synod on Synodality.. (Everyone in the Church listening

to each other)

All Youth are invited to be heard!! The Church wants to hear what you have to

say.

You can help shape the future of the Church by attending a Listening Session…

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS NEWS

The Knights of Columbus (K of C) will be sponsoring the Coats for Kids program during the month of November. As the weather turns colder, the Knights will be providing warm coats for children in need. In cooperation with Guardian Catholic School, our council, along with other councils in the diocese will be raising money to provide coats for underprivileged students at the school. Our goal is to raise $1,500 dollars during the month of November to provide 72 coats to the students at this school. We will have envelopes at the back of the church for your donations as well as holding two take-out dinners, in hopes of collecting enough money. We will be distributing these coats on December 17th, 2021, at the school. We will host a spaghetti take-out dinner on December 4th, which will include spaghetti and meatballs, a side salad, and garlic bread. Tickets will be $10.00 per meal and available after all Masses through November 28th, immediately after Mass. We will also have envelopes in the Narthex for private donations.

Seven Women, One Priest, One Hour, One Day, Holy Eucharist… The Seven Sisters Apostolate is a call to strengthen the Church by ensuring that a Holy Hour is prayed each day of the week for the sole intention of a specific priest or bishop—a “holy wasting”(cf. Mt. 26:10) or lavishing of prayer for his deeper conformity to Christ.

Our Team is in need of a new Sister! Please contact Cheri in the office if you can give an

hour of prayer for Father Philip
