Are you looking for summer fun for a child who has completed kindergarten through 12 years of age? Our new and improved summer blast camp may be your solution! This year kids will participate in arts and crafts, explore Arcadia Lake, play dodge ball and other games, travel to fun destinations and still have time for an afternoon at Pelican Bay!

Campers will be divided into two age groups. All campers will need to bring a sack lunch each day, but we will provide snacks and they will also receive a camp shirt to be worn on field trip day.

Cost is $300 per session with additional children costing $265 (immediate family members only). Payment plans are available. After camp care is available from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. for an additional cost of $30 per week.

Session 1: June 4 – June 15

Session 2: June 18 – June 29

Session 3: July 2 – July 13 (No camp on July 4)

Session 4: July 16 – July 27

12012 Summer Classes & Events |

The 2012 Summer Classes and Events Guide provided to you by the City of Edmond Parks and Recreation department is full of summer activities for you and your family. As the Parks and Recreation department is growing and our guide takes on a new appearance, you will find that locating your favorite activities is now much simpler.

The seeds have been planted and growth is happening! For many of you who have visited Mitch Park this spring, you’ve been greeted by earth movers and other types of construction equipment. The end result will be wider, better roads and a new building that will house the future Edmond Recreation and Aquatics Center -home to the Edmond Public School’s competitive swim programs. An updated Park & Recreation Master Plan is in its advanced stages to give us a roadmap to the future of your Parks and Recreation facilities and activities.

Summer Blast Camp at the MAC is also improving this summer. Instead of two weeks for your children to attend camp, we will have two months of fun-filled activities for them to enjoy! Kids will spend most of their time at the MAC inside and outside of our facility while still having a day at Pelican Bay Aquatic Center. In addition, we will take the kids on weekly field trips to places like the OKC Zoo and Science Museum Oklahoma.

Arcadia Lake has a new fee collection station in Edmond Park to help with the flow of traffic from 2nd street. There have also been electrical upgrades in the Scissortail Campground. So bring your family out to camp, swim, and fish and launch your boat on Edmond’s only recreational lake.

Pelican Bay has added a new pelican to the mix that will be spraying water on all those who enter the spray pad so staying dry is not an option! And due to the summer being so hot last year, we have painted a path around the pool to help keep your feet cool.

Park playgrounds will continue to be revitalized with new and modern play equipment. Trails are a vital part of our community and we are extending the Community Trails to Arcadia Lake. This multi-use trail will be available for walkers, runners, and mountain bikers so be prepared for a new adventure in nature.

KickingBird Tennis and Golf facilities are having improvements to courts, landscaping and their cart fleet.

As you can see, many improvements are happening here in Edmond and we are glad to have you along. Take a look inside and see what we have in store for you and your family.

Sincerley,

Earl LondonInterim Director of Parks and Recreation

Park & Recreation Policies

Recreating Experience and Adventure through YOU!

City of Edmond Parks and Recreation is looking for

unique educational and fun experiences you can share

with other residents. If you have knowledge and talent

to share with others and are comfortable teaching, we

can provide you with an opportunity. It only takes one

day/evening a month, minimum, depending on the class!

INSTRUCTORS WANTED!

QUESTIONS359-4360 | [email protected].

Refund & Cancellation Policy• A refund will only be issued if a class is cancelled by the department or the

student withdraws at least 3 days prior to the start date of the class, less a $5 processing fee per class on all Programs of $10 or more.

• Students who withdraw from a class less than 72 hours prior to the start date of the class will receive a recreation Program credit which may be applied to future recreation Programs, less a $5 processing fee per class. In general, no refunds or credits will be issued from the start date of a class.

• Students who are dissatisfied with a Program for any reason must complete a Program survey in order for improvement of Programs to be made.

• Credits and refunds will be evaluated on a case by case basis by the Recreation Program Coordinator.

• Credits expire one year from the date issued.

• The above policy applies only to our fee–based recreation Programs and not to: KickingBird Tennis, Pelican Bay Aquatic Center, KickingBird Golf Club, Farmer’s Market, MAC or pavilion rentals, special events, or Arcadia Lake.

Program Tardiness PolicyPrograms will start promptly; we do not wait for late arrivals. If an instructor shows up for their class and no students are present, they are only required to wait 20 minutes before leaving. No refunds or credits issued once the class has started.

Last Minute Cancellation Policy Our instructors are dedicated to fulfilling each class they teach. However, they are also human and have emergencies that arise in their day–to–day lives. Should a last minute cancellation arise, we have developed the following policies. Once Edmond Parks & Recreation receives notification from an instructor they will not be able to make a class, all registered participants will be contacted via the contact information listed on the participant’s account.

For all one–time classesThe instructor will be required to schedule a make–up class on a day and time similar to the regularly scheduled time. If that is not possible, we will work with both the instructor and registered participants to come up with a “majority rules” day and time.

For all series and repetitive classesDue to availability constraints, many times it is not feasible to have a make–up class. Should an instructor have a last minute cancellation, all participants will receive a gift certificate/credit voucher for the value of the day the class is cancelled.

Example: If a class for $60 meets twice a week for four weeks, totaling eight classes, each registered participant will receive a gift certificate/credit voucher for $7.50 to be used on a future Edmond Parks and Recreation class.
