In 1923, a Bavarian cobbler named Lorenz Wagner founded LOWA as a work and outdoor boot company.

90+ years later, LOWA is a worldwide brand, selling boots and shoes in over 40 countries. Yet we are still based

in our small home village of Jetzendorf, near the foothills of the German Alps, where we proudly produce the

majority of our classic board-lasted boots in our clean and modern factory.

While we no longer exclusively manufacture in Germany, we are committed to 100% European manufacturing,

This moisture management system keeps feet dry, protecting you against blisters

and hot spots. A series of perforations or holes inside the boot’s cuff lining allows

heat and moisture to escape. Moisture is pulled away from the foot, evaporating

while you walk to keep feet comfortably cool and dry.

A patented LOWA design, I-Lock is a simple cam lace loop placed at the top of the foot. It grabs

the lace and holds it tightly so the foot can be firmly held and supported while allowing for flexible

shaft lacing. Pushing the hook clip upwards easily releases the clamping to loosen the instep

lacing. This allows the wearer to separate the lacing tension between the ankle and instep area,

for more comfort on long hikes and climbs

So special, it’s patented. We use a proprietary lasted method to allow for a smooth and seamless

GORE-TEX® lining which reduces the possibility of blister-causing friction. GORE-TEX® laminate

is stitched to the upper at the cuff, and then attached to the insole. The bottom is then sealed with

GORE-TEX® tape to provide a waterproof gasket that's attached to boot under the insole. The result

is durably waterproof and breathable comfort, for fewer blisters and hot spots.

A LOWA Signature

We use Polyurethane (PU) for our midsoles. It’s a terrific shock absorber, rebounds well, will last longer on

the trail and offers better comfort. You will get two to five times the performance life compared to molded

EVA midsoles. PU, whether we cement it to the boot like on a Backpacking boot or inject it as on an ATC shoe,

has very little manufacturing waste and is a much cleaner product to work with. By comparison, EVA is made

using an extremely toxic process; it's so toxic in fact that most EVA midsoles can't be manufactured in

Europe because they can't meet EU environmental standards.

A LOWA Signature

Our new polyurethane midsole material is an ideal trifecta of durability, cushioning and

rebound...the perfect combination for athletic use on trails. DynaPU® offers the lightweight

cushioning and rebound that until now was only available in EVA foam, combined with the

durability and underfoot support that's typical of LOWA's midsoles. (Oh, and it's way less

toxic to manufacture than EVA!)

Tests how that DynaPU® experiences significantly less mechanical aging compared to EVA

foam after 240,000 compressions.

The I-Core carbon insert forms the intelligent core of the sole construction. A precise alignment of

the carbon fibers achieves both perfect flex and torsional stability, for better shock absorption and

We worked with W.L. Gore & Associates to create an outsole design that allows

vapor from warm feet to escape while keeping water from entering the shoe.
