HOUSTON CITY CENTER
On September 15th, the IIDA Houston City Center
joined together once again to celebrate and
discuss the benefits of being a member of such a
great organization. The event was held at Hughes
Hangar Speakeasy Lounge, where nearly 100
guests gathered .
In addition to great mixers and social
events, IIDA offers members great
education, inspiration, and professional
development; this includes CEU offerings,
subscriptions to great industry
publications, and some of the best
networking opportunities in the interior
design industry. There are also great
discounts and incentives offered to
members only!
The Membership Mixer was a huge success, showing
those who haven’t joined the IIDA family what a great value
it is. We could not have pulled off such a successful event
without all of our underwriters. Thank you so much to Tandus
Flooring, McCoy Floorcovering, Putterman Scharck,
Structuretone, The KipCo, Herman Miller, and Southwest
Solutions. Office Pavilion generously donated a gift card to Del
Frisco’s for the raffle item, won by Jennifer Digges of Kendall Heaton.

INDUSTRY ROUNDTABLE
The Industry Roundtable was a success with over 30 Industry Partners present at Hughes Hangar to
give a nod of appreciation to last year’s underwriters and to hear about our exciting year ahead!
We reviewed the IIDA Calendar and heard from many of our Council Chairs announcing opportunities
for Underwriting and Volunteering as we move forward towards 2012.
We were also lucky to have Kip Altstaetter, our Chapter
Director of Industry, join us. He rolled out IIDA TX OK
Chapter’s new 2012 "Partnership Campaign,”
introducing two new levels, Elite and Social Media
Partners. We sincerely appreciate all of our IIDA
underwriters, past and current sponsors, and future
partners. IIDA could not function without all of the
added support that is constantly given by all of you!

On Saturday, October 22nd, Jennifer Trenta, HCC Associates Chair, and Jessy Fuller, HCC Education
Chair, hosted participants from both SFA and Houston Community College in the first annual
Campus Center Conclave.

In a concise 2-hour Conclave, “Why IIDA” was discussed, as well as : Becoming/Renewing a Campus
Center, Membership Benefits, Increasing membership, Student Mentoring Week 2012, Student
Conference 2012, Sustainable Design Competition, IIDA Campus Center Handbook, and Student
membership Upgrade to Associate!
We thank all of the participants in this year’s Campus Center Conclave for their initiative! IIDA
strives to be a valuable asset to our student membership, and we encourage our area schools to
submit their membership applications ASAP. There are currently no Campus Centers in the Houston
territory that have renewed for this school year. Please remember that the Design Charrette at

Jeremy Dicks, 2011-2012 Underwriting Chair, has over 13 years of diversified experience in
the Interior Design industry, specializing in commercial furniture. He is thoroughly versed in
project management with a high degree of sales and marketing skills. He has worked on major
projects with clients such as Bank United, DHL, Siemens, JPMorgan Chase, and University of
Houston. Jeremy has been working for JCS in sales and project management for over 6 years.
Jeremy also enjoys spending time with his 12 year old son and family, playing soccer, surfing, and

Shanna Pajares, 2011-2012 Underwriting Chair, has been actively involved in the
Houston design community for over 6 years. She is the A+D Product Specialist at Office
Pavilion, with a special love of meeting and working with great new people in our
industry. Shanna has been actively involved in IIDA for many years. Her most
memorable positions include Student Conference Chair and Underwriting Chair; she has
served 2 years per role. Her expertise is further enhanced by her BFA in Interior Design
and minor in Architecture.
Shanna also loves a good sunset, doggies– mainly boxers, good wine, travel, yoga,
reading, expensive shoes, and baseball!
