CAPITAL DISTRICT - Stuttering is a frustrating and embar-rassing problem for millions of people, but it can be es-pecially tough on elementary school-age children. Help is available for parents, teachers, and speech-language pathologists at most public libraries in the form of a DVD designed to help school-age children who stutter. Some libraries have an older video version. The DVD features stu-dents from � rst through sixth grade, some of whom talk about their experiences with stuttering. They talk openly about the teasing they face from classmates and how their stuttering sometimes makes them feel about themselves. The 38-minute DVD, entitled Therapy in Action: The School-age Child Who Stutters, produced by the 67-year-old non-pro� t Stuttering Foundation is available free of charge to public libraries nationwide. The position profi le requires that the individual be able to operate a company provided route vehicle, deliver product to and maintain good customer service as well as acquire new business for additional services. Principal Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:• Directly interface with customers and while doing so, may perform routine customer service tasks including order entry duties and identifying opportunities for other or addi-tional company products and services• Maintains routes and accounts for proper routing sequence, and helps with collections and minimum delivery requirements set by the store• Responsible for vehicle inspections, including DVIR and monthly commercial vehicle inspec-tions.• Delivers/exchanges all types of P/E tanks, bottle water, salt, chemicals and fi lters as required on routes.
• Collect and document receipt of money from customers and complete all paperwork in a legible manner, including delivery tickets and route books.• Ability to operate carts, dollies, fork lifts, lift gates, hand trucks and hand tools• Must be able to work overtime if required to fi nish the route• Must abide by all company policies as con-tained in the company employee handbook• Perform all duties in conformance to ap-propriate safety and security standards and wear all safety equipment as required by the position
Minimum Requirements:• High school diploma or equivalent,• Knowledge of the city area you would be working in • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English• Must be able to read and navigate with a map book or printed maps• Maintain a good driving record, valid driver’s license (in some cases CDL)Please note that employees who are off ered a position are subject to a DOT physical (at time of hire and every two years after), a drug screen and a background check in accordance with state and Federal laws.

And while no one’s recommending choosing a career based solely on market factors, a lot more philosophy majors might be employed today if they’d paid attention.
“Not all (college) degrees are created equal,” a report from Georgetown University’s Center on Education and the Work-force concluded. One career that’s considered golden: doc-tors of chiropractic.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Handbook, chiropractic employment is expected to rise 28 percent through 2020 -- much faster than the average for all jobs. For those unaware, today’s chiropractors are at the frontline in providing non-invasive, drug-free relief from ev-erything from back pain to migraines to a host of lifestyle issues. And while there’s a high degree of both personal and patient satisfaction, the educational requirements are among the most stringent of all health care professionals.
The typical applicant at an accredited chiropractic college has already acquired nearly four years of pre-medical un-dergraduate college education, including courses in biol-ogy, physics, psychology, organic and inorganic chemistry, and related lab work. He or she is then looking at four or five years of professional study in the healing sciences that in some cases -- including anatomy, physiology, rehabilitation and nutrition -- are even more intensive than that of medical doctors. There’s also a minimum one-year, clinical-based program involving actual patient care. “That’s because of the hands-on nature of the profession and the intricate adjust-ing techniques that must be learned to help patients,” says Gerard Clum of the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress.
