Cause Effect DiagramCause effect diagrams or Ishikawa diagrams are casual diagrams created by Kaoru Ishikawa that show the causes of a specific event. Common uses of Ishikawa diagram are product design and quality defect prevention, to identify potential factors causing an overall effect. Each cause or reason for imperfection is a source of variation,. Causes are usually grouped into major categories to identify these sources of variation. The categories typically include :1. People : Any person involved with the process.2. Methods : How the process is being performed and

its specific requirements.3. Machines : Any equipment, etc required to

complete the job.4. Measurements : Data generated from the process.5. Environment : Conditions such as location, time,

temperature, etc.

5 Key Roots For Poor Placements

1. 8% Rule.2. Placement season starting too late.3. Arrogance of administration.4. Career decisions made out of security.5. Criminal history, drug and alcohol.

Poor Placements – RootsHere are, certain reasons for poor placements of students, even after graduating from the top B-Schools :-1. 8% rule makes companies afraid to hire more number of students and

specially refrain from hiring for foreign profiles. Less companies visiting each day which make more days consumed and companies disagree in visiting so late. Written test in December itself and not during the semester. No proper support/work from the placement cell officials to the students and SPCs.

2. Scheduling companies : This is the single biggest factor leading to forced career choices which are hurting everyone involved in the eco-system, companies, Business schools and the individual student.

3. Bad PPO Policies : 100% placement obsession means you have bad PPO policies. In some institutions, you have the option (thankfully!) of rejecting it if you believe you can crack a ‘Higher Ranked’ company during finals. As a result, company professionals backlist the B-Schools for sending poor quality graduates.

4. Companies are yet to find employment for all students because many firms have shrunk their hiring plans and key recruiters such as banks and other financial institutions have not shown much enthusiasm.5. Students also allege that at the time of admission, the institutions authorities promise to bring ‘n’ companies, but, out of which only 1 or 2 turn up. Students are now afraid to go out of campus without a job as placement season, about to end and companies seldom turn up after February for recruitments.6. Placement team do not accept grievances of students.7. Lack of students enthusiasm to talk to companies and invite them over.

Major emphasis is given on CGPA for constituting placement team and traits like knowledge of industry and HR skills are not given due weight.

8. Placements are of recently being tackled as a burdensome task and not as a mandatory part for B.Tech students career path.

9. Many companies do not follow criteria that are stated, while letting students sit for placements.

10. Foreign internships are not allowed thus people are forced to be limited to few choices in India many of which are not suitable for students are of interest moreover, substantial chances of being placed in Industry.

11. Institutions mostly concentrating towards the software companies, departments like Mechanical, Civil, Electricals, are affected. Many companies also do not visit the campus.

CONCLUSIONAbove stated were certain reasons for poor placements in Institutions, including the top B-Grade Universities, which also include Universities like IIT’s and IIM’s. As from the above we can conclude that, there is a partial fault of the Institutions and a pointer part it also includes the fault of the student, resulting in the demolishment of the student itself. Following statements could be practically implemented inorder to relieve students from the pressure of the placements burden :-1. An enthusiasm in students themselves to call up

companies for their good.2. Calling up the exact company for the particular

placement of the branch.

3. Placements to be considered as an important phase of career and not as some burdensome task.

4. A note for company : Companies to follow the stated guidelines/criteria while the placement exams.

5. Institutions to stick to as said during the official announcements.
