Successful Microsoft PowerPoint strategies (A Case of Charles Bright)

    Introduction

Microsoft PowerPoint is a powerful in terms of making presentations and attracting

an audience attention. Many people use Microsoft in their everyday work

environments but most of them do not know the depths and strength that Microsoft

PowerPoint can go/have on an audience. According to (Bell, !"#$

‘Whether your presentation needs a visual kick, tools for collaboration, easy

access or the ability to share information beyond the initial meeting,

PowerPoint is a good option. It can even help reduce speaking anxiety by

drawing eyes away from the speaker and towards a screen…

%ith this in mind we are assured that Mr Bright &harles utilised the elements that a

PowerPoint offers. Powerpoint as a tool for interaction has surpassed a lot of

competitors and has helped a lot of presenters to put across their messages thereby

convincing audiences like the case of Mr Bright &harles.

'here are several presentation software on the market as highlighted by (&oldray,

    !"$ like)*

    • +eynote

    • Pre

    • -way

'hese are also being utilised on the market but powerpoint has proven to be a leader

in presentations. 'his is so because of its benefits and its underlying strategies that

helps a user to come up with convincing and eye catching presentations.

    Benefits and Strategies of Powepoint

t should be noted that the powerpoint has not only lies in the application but in the

individual as well so the strategies that underlie a good presentation encompasses

the way an individual also prepares themselves before making a presentation and

how they make a presentation. A tool can be powerful but if it is in the wrong hands it

    tends to be useless.

    Few Paragraphs

A PowerPoint presentation is not your whole document it will only highlight the main

point as such it should not have paragraphs but rather bullets. ike earlier stated the

key is in the individual and how he will articulate the points there in. 'his is why

PowerPoint is different from other presentations it encourages an individual to shine

and not the program to be on top.

    Plan your presentation

A presentation is like acting as such you should have some form of a script. As

    highlighted by (%a0, !"#$

1!ou should know what you intend to say and then figure out how to visuali"e

it. #nless you are an expert at improvising, make sure you write out or at least

outline your presentation before trying to put together slides

Good design and careful use of images

A good design goes hand in hand with the type of audience you will have. n the

case of Mr Bright since he was addressing academics the design would

automatically have to have less images and well formatted te0t with the core

message being highlighted unlike when you are addressing a 2raphic design team

then automatically your presentation design will have a lot of graphics with funny and

    eye catching te0ts.

    Good Slide ayout

'he key to a good slide lay out to catch people3s attention is to have one thing at a

time, never crowd your slide with so many topics on a single slide. Make sure there

is one topic per slide to lock the audience3s attention. And it is advisable to have a

minimum of "# slides per presentation to avoid boring your audience.

Benefits of a good Powerpoint Strategy and Presentation

    • t is easy to master and with a well laid out strategy it is also easy to follow by

    your audience

    •  Attractive when slides, design and paragraph design has been made with

care and with your audience in mind•  As articulated by (Boundless, !"4$

‘ it can reduce complicated messages to simple bullet points. Bullet points are

a good basis for a presentation and remind the speaker of main points and the

    organization of the message’

    • 'he tools and attractiveness of a powerpoint helps the speaker to have an

impact on the audience as the program lets the user be in control and in

    charge

    Conclusion

ndeed there are many programs out there for presentations but what has made

powerpoint to stand the pressure is its ability to give control to the presenter and its

diverse nature where every industry is covered from students to business

professionals all can use powerpoint to woo audiences provided they utilise a good

presentation strategy and feautures like charts, audio and other images to come up

with a powerful presentation. But it should be highlighted that the key is in the

presenter as was emphasised by (5&6, !"4$ ‘ PowerPoint can be a highly

efective tool to aid learning, but i not used careully, may instead disengage

    audiences…’
