about reorganizing one’s life with the purpose of making it aperfect Prayer for a certain Goal,yet when we have done this,we find that we become so engrossed in the preliminary work,the task of rebuilding the Self in all its septenary nature,that our Prayer, our contact with ideas and our inspirationand guidance comes to us even before we definitely ask,beforewe realize we already had it.....

Let us cease, therefore, to pray with anguished lips forhealth, or financial relief, for this or that other Desire,let us turn first and take up the task of placing ourselvesin a position where we have the right to ask,let us recognizethe justice aspect of God as well as His loving aspect. As

Souls that are fast growing into adulthood, let us cease toplead for special favor, and let us approach that Throne andask, not for mercy, but for justice. And when we have adoptedthis attitude, when we come to a realization of all that isimplied in what has just been said, we will find it createswithin us true humility,and we will find many times that thisspiritual humility that arises within us, sets certain Forcesinto motion, and our Prayer is granted before it is formulatedin words, before we feel that we have earned the rigfct toutter it.....

So to place yourself in a position where you may approachthe Infinite Spirituality of the Planes, suppose you adopt a

simple procedure, a procedure of awakening each morning witha feeling that you are being born anew to the world. The pastis gone, and other than garnering the lessons which it had toteach you, is of no further concern to you, while the futureis not yet born. And thus today, the one day that you have,is all that you do have There is no other way to make cer^tain that as the Tomorrows come and become Todays, and passinto the Yesterdays,that they will do so without regret,with-out worry or fear. Giving is actually the cor-nerstone upon which all happinessrests. The father who gives hisenergy and his ability to providethe best for his family,the musi-cian who toils • in poverty and

starvation that the elusive melodywithin his soul may flower intobeing, the pioneer who risks life■itself that others following himmay have comfort and ease,the in-valid who smiles thru pain thatothers may not know the depth ofhis suffering all these, andmany more are giving to the world

the finest expression of God’sLove that it is possible for man

to reflect. They have tasted Life,and thru demonstrating courageand the Godlike Spirit of Givinghave earned the happiness whichthey, and they alone, are capableof truly appreciating.

What is the virtue of Giving?It lies in the sacrifice of Self,asacrifice wherein Consciousnessis purified and perfected to thehighest degree.

Giving in this way is notalways an easy task; we are desi-

rous of the results attained, butthe actuality of the method mayoften be one that brings frequentdiscouragement and heartache.Thereis something in every soul thatlongs for complete freedom, butinstinctively each realizes thatthis freedom can be discovered on-ly in the fulfillment of DivineLove, to which each must give ex-

pression.That quality of supremacy

that one admires in a successful

person, in a genius, or in a com-pletely happy individual has beenattained thru this purification ofself, for this is the establishedprice, the fair and willingly ac-cepted price of all good.

True givingis that which stimulates the bestin others,so that they may becomeharmonized in their own particularsphere, in accordance with theirown individual needs,requirementsand situations. Gifts that youwould want to give are not alwayssuitable to the receiver.

Thus all happiness returns tothe fundamental principle of un-derstanding. We apply ourselvesdiligently to study that we mayunderstand God, but we show ourappreciation to God only thru thereflection of this knowledge inour contacts with man.

So live that the words of Paulcan be taken unto yourself as a

law of life. "Charity suffereth

long and is kind; charity enviethnot; charity vaunteth not itself,is not puffed up, doth not behaveitself unseemingly, seeketh nother own, is not easily provoked,thinketh no evil." Many may notknow God in the finiteness andlimitation of their consciousness,the great experience of Illumina-tion may be frustrated, but theycan know the God that lives inman, and this they can serve infaith and honor, and to all wholive by these laws shall be ful-filled the promise, "Eye hath notseen, nor ear heard, neither hathentered into the heart of man,thethings which God hath preparedfor them that love Him."

11 God is everywhere" is a basic ment, others by popularity. ActuTruth which when realized holds ally the important considerationwithin itself the possibilitiesof manifesting all Truths. It isrealizing to the fullest extentone’s close identity with the spir-itual consciousness. When thisfact is realized we know that we

are spirit and that spirit, is in-separably united with us.

The things that you hate, thethings that you fear, a conditionthat troubles you or a person thatannoys youshould you be able torealize that these also are con-stituted of Spirit,then you wouldperceive that they also are good;that which is good is favorableto us and we have no fear of it.Therefore, realizing the identityof the spirit within us helps us

to overcome all sensation of limi-tation,doubt,fear and uncertainty.

Should you ask a group of peo-ple the question, "What do you getout of life?" there would be a va-riety of answers. Many would say,"nothing" others would say "every-thing". Some measure life bywealth,others by spiritual attain

There is a Divine Justice thatweighs and balances all things,even though surface appearancesmay sometimes seem to contradict

this. It appears at times thatthere are instances of unearnedwealth, that there are those whoenjoy privileges to which they arenot entitled,that there are unfor-tunates who do not receive the re-ward which their life and charac-ter apparently merit. True Happi-ness is of the spirit — it comesfrom within and is characterizedby a certain inward peace that isunmistakable. If we are dissatis-fied we are yielding to negative

vibrations and negative vibrationsserve only to impoverish life. Ifone is selfish,he takes from him-self the pleasure that lies in giv-ing. If he is envious he takes fromhimself the pleasure of enjoyinggood fortune in the lives of oth-ers. If one is controlled bv hate,

Color Chart ina recent Messen-ger, we have re-ceived a number ofrequests for a furof this subject.

Many have asked "What does thehuman Aura look like?" This is aquestion that cannot be answeredexplicitly because the Aura of anindividual is governed by his orher type, stage of development,and mental condition.

The Aura is "seen” with thefaculties of psychic,not physicalsight, so the ability of the ob-server must also be taken intoconsideration. Some who possess

clairvoyant sight may see the Auradistinctly in all of its color and

motion, others limited because oftheir development, are consciousof nothing but a faint glow or in-definite outline. Man of course,has seven bodies which operateupon the seven Planes, extendingfrom the physical to the HigherSpiritual. Each of these bodiesradiates energy characteristic ofits own Plane. The energies of thehighest Planes however, are known

to very few. It is a combinationof Astral and Mental Plane mani-festation that is perceived by theaverage investigator.

Usually the Aura extends ap-proximately two or three feet fromthe body, being oval in shape. Ithas no abrupt outline,as does thephysical organism, but fades intospace. All of the radiating ener-gies of the seven bodies are in-corporated in it, their sumtotalmaking up the complete Aura.

The most dense elements of theAura are of course the energiesradiating from the physical body,these form what is known as theHealth Aura, which is character-ized by fine lines extending out-ward like rays. When the individ-ual is in a state of health theserays are definite and straight.

In times of fa-tigue or illness,however, they be-come lax and some-times crossed orknotted. The As

contributes a cloudyvaporlike quality to the Aura,the higher Astral Body adding whatcan only be described as a "spark”or an electrical quality, that isquite distinctive.

One of the most interestingphases of the Aura is its changingcolor due to fluctuating mentalstates. These colors vary accord-ing to the mood, and can be readby those who are sufficiently in-formed in the language of colors

to interpret their significance.

In considering color we rec-ognize the fact that there is ageneral shade which acts as thebackground of the Aura. This rep-resents the level of consciousnessto which the individual has reach-ed, or the general temperament andemotional state of the individual.

Upon this background running thruit, sometimes completely obliter-ating it, flash the colors insti-gated by thoughts as they passthru the mind in their endless

sequence. Thus a fit of anger mayproduce a scarlet and black color-ing that completely effaces evi-dences of all of the other Auricenergies. Or, on the other hand,when one is swept by Spiritualecstasy, rays of beautiful goldand silver may illumine the wholefield.As development of conscious-ness proceeds the general coloring

of the Aura changes from one ofdull, murky, clouded coloring toa clear and clean shade. The unde-

veloped man shows how violentlypassing moods sway him, but thesensitive Soul remains serene,passing thoughts but little in-fluencing the deep beauty of AuricRadiance.

lobby of a hotelin a tiny mount-ain town. When Istayed there recently, my atten-tion was drawn to the rug and its

symbols which are grouped in anunusual form.

The oblong space in the centeris filled with sixteen whirlingcrosses. Twelve are pictured asmoving clockwise, from left toright, and four are whirling inthe opposite direction.The twelveare gaily colored; the four areblack.

Surrounding the central fig-ure is a series of arrows point-ing outward, and around the whole

is a red and black "zigzagging"figure that is easier to draw thanto describe.

Here is a high form of artexecuted by the most primitivepeople in our country. It is aphilosophical treatise clothed insimple, beautiful form. One mightwrite a large volume on the mes-sage it contains.

In the center is the greatnpowerhousen of Creation wherein

the Sacred Four move in ceaseless,resisted,orderly,circular motion;tirelessly building. Yet all isnot "good” therein, for there arefour destroyers; the black forcesof evil whose objective is back-ward toward chaos. They await thecooperation of all who tread theforbidden way. highly indignant, however, and Iwas sorry I had not held my peace.

"The idea that any such be-lief could be held by those ig-norant savages is one that couldbe held only by a fool," hestormed. "Those figures could bemade by any child and are merelya crude decoration. Savages arenot philosophers or scientists."

True, yet such is the humanmind that a retrograde civiliza-tion clings subconsciously to the

glory that has been. Primitivepeople do not originate. They doas their fathers have done, andtheir art has come down intactfrom past generations.

Here is a rug that is compar-atively new, yet the design is

hoary with antiquity. It may havecome down as given by some Atlantean teacher, or still furtherback when the ships of Lemuriatouched American shores to trade

with and teach the ancestors ofthe makers of this rug.The meaning of the symbols

was long ago forgotten by thesimple people of the desert lands,yet they give us the message to-day just as a hollow log yieldsup a secret entrusted to it manyyears ago.

"Yes, this situation can mostcertainly be adjusted — but curi-ously enough it is not about theseothers that we will speak,for thefirst(and perhaps the only)changemust take place within yourself.You are of a highly sensitive na-ture, of active mind. "Individuals of little under-standing (young souls) sometimeshave dispositions that are as cor-rosive as acid; they seem to de-

light in givingexpression to allthat is unlovely,but what they sayor what they thinkcan hurt no one

but themselves,unless a sensitivesoul is exposed to their caustic

criticism. At the present time themagnetic field of your emotionalnature is thus exposed. Withoutrealizing it you are alert for anysymptom of inharmony so that theserude, invading thoughts cause youto forget the God Within.

"If you will clothe your na-ture in the armor of Divine Love,no barb,no painful idea can piercethat sure protection. In this wayyou can find yourself, and youwill find also that Divine Love isconstant and strong. Remember thathatred in the attitude of thoseabout you is actually a weaknesswithin themselves, but the GodWithin which is your inalienableinheritance is perfect and vital.

"This entire situation is notwithout its purpose. In accordancewith the Divine Plan of all thingsthis unprotected sensitivity ofyour nature has been discovered bythe circumstances of your daily

life. You have thus been shownthat there is a problem here toovercome. You are faced with oppo-sition, you are given an opportu-nity to set about the adjustmentof your thought world, that youmay never again know this type ofhesitancy and sorrow.

"Our problems make us wiser,kindlier and more tolerant. Thissituation can actually be the be-ginning of a change that will notonly bring more of security and

happiness to you, but also mayhave the indirect effect of in-fluencing those who have lost thesense, or have never known thebeauty of kindly fellowship.

"This sensitivity which youpossess is a rare and blessedgift. If it responds quickly to

Everyone rushes in their business,in their social activities,in theiramusements; transportation lines,work feverishly to cut down sched-ules, saving seconds,while engin-eers constantly strive to designmotors capable of higher and high-er velocity. The average Americanlives in a maelstrom of hurry thatwould have completely bewilderedhis grandfather.

As a result neurotic disordersof every description are constant-

ly increasing, for the tension ofmodern life exhausts one’s nervousenergy. Life, a century ago, wascalm, serene and quiet, but thisage is far different. While in an-cient times,man’s destiny depend-ed upon his personal strength,to-day it depends upon his nervousendurance.The efficiency "on yourtoes” attitude may be necessaryfor success, but there must beperiods of nerve relaxation or thetension of speed and concentration

will take their toll in physicalill health. Just as the bodyneeds food to maintain its equil-ibrium, so the nerves need thesustenance which only rest andquiet can give them.

Relaxation has two forms,play

and rest. Play is not always atonic for the nerves, for it mayinvolve action which stimulates

rather than calms. Play is valu-able, however, for it at leastchanges the routine of daily life

and introduces new interests.But it is with rest that we

are particularly concerned at thistime.Occult activity teaches muchconcerning the development of theability to concentrate. Concen-tration in its highest form isthe regulated use of nerve energy.But prolonged concentration brings

on nervous fatigue. There are anumber of suggestions that can bemade,that will be helpful in con-

serving energy. First, when youfind yourself hurrying, stop andconsider a moment. Plan your dailyactivity in such a way that therewill be sufficient time for per-forming those unexpected dutiesthat have in the past caused youto rush with nervous haste.Finishevery piece of work before start-ing on something else. This in it-self is a release of nervous ten-sion,for the subconscious mind isthen satisfied and not cluttered

with uncertainty and doubt.Second, cultivate the friend-

ship of those who are of a fardifferent type or social calibrethan yourself. Being with those

who are different than you in manyrespects, assists in the mainte-nance of perfect mental poise.

Third, lie down and rest forten or fifteen minutes during theday,if you can. This is extremely

helpful for those in the businessworld, whose responsibilities and

duties give them little freedomfrom steady routine. This periodmay also include a few moments formeditation during which you liftyourself mentally to the InnerPlanes and permit the vivifyinginspiration of Divine Love to en-fold and renew your spiritual con-sciousness.

Fourth,keep your thoughts ele-vated. Lift them above the common-place,the ordinary and the sordid.Refuse to be annoyed by trifles.

Sufficient sleep is also a neces-sity for it is one of the besthealers that nature has provided.

Fifth,learn to leave your workbehind you when the working dayis finished. No matter how impor-tant it may be to you,or how vitalthe issues involved,your business
