The Lessons of the Day The First Reading Romans 15:25-27 Lector Our first reading this morning comes from Paul’s letter to the Romans, chapter 15 verses 25-27. Lector Now to God who is able to strengthen you according to
my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according
to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for
long ages but is now disclosed, and through the prophetic
writings is made known to all the Gentiles, according to
the command of the eternal God, to bring about the
obedience of faith-- to the only wise God, through Jesus
Christ, to whom be the glory forever! Amen.
Lector Hear what the Spirit is saying to God’s people.
People Thanks be to God.

The Psalm 89:1-4, 19-26 BCP p. 713
Lector The Psalm appointed for today is a portion of Psalm 89 verses 1-4, & 19-26 which begins on page 713 in your Book of Common Prayer or in this morning’s bulletin. I invite us to pray the Psalm in unison.
ALL 1 Your love, O LORD, for ever will I sing; * from age to age my mouth will proclaim your faithfulness.
2 For I am persuaded that your love is established for ever;* you have set your faithfulness firmly in the heavens.
3 "I have made a covenant with my chosen one; * I have sworn an oath to David my servant:
4 'I will establish your line for ever, * and preserve your throne for all generations.'"
19 You spoke once in a vision and said to your faithful people: * "I have set the crown upon a warrior and have exalted one chosen out of the people.
20 I have found David my servant; * with my holy oil have I anointed him.
21 My hand will hold him fast * and my arm will make him strong.
22 No enemy shall deceive him, * nor any wicked man bring him down.
23 I will crush his foes before him * and strike down those who hate him.
24 My faithfulness and love shall be with him, * and he shall be victorious through my Name.
25 I shall make his dominion extend * from the Great Sea to the River.
26 He will say to me, 'You are my Father, * my God, and the rock of my salvation.'

The Gospel Luke 1:26-38
Celebrant The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Luke. People Glory to you, Lord Christ.
Celebrant In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a
town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a
man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The
virgin’s name was Mary. And he came to her and said,
“Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.” But she
was much perplexed by his words and pondered what sort
of greeting this might be. The angel said to her, “Do not
be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And
now, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and
you will name him Jesus. He will be great, and will be
called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will
give to him the throne of his ancestor David. He will reign
over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there
will be no end.” Mary said to the angel, “How can this be,
since I am a virgin?” The angel said to her, “The Holy
Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most
High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born
will be holy; he will be called Son of God. And now, your
relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son;
and this is the sixth month for her who was said to be
barren. For nothing will be impossible with God.” Then
Mary said, “Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be
with me according to your word.” Then the angel departed
from her.
Celebrant The Gospel of the Lord.
People Praise to you, Lord Christ.

Nicene Creed BCP pg. 358
Celebrant Let us say together the Nicene Creed found on pg. 358 of your Book of Common Prayer.
All We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of
heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light
from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were
made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from
heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became
incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he
suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again in accordance with the
Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the
right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to
judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have
no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father
and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken
through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and
apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the
forgiveness of sins. + We look for the resurrection of the
dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
The Prayers of the People The Intercessor asks the people to pray for the needs of the Church and the world, and for our own needs.
Intercessor Father, we pray for your holy Catholic Church;
All That we all may be one.
Intercessor Grant that every member of the Church may truly and
humbly serve you;
All That your Name may be glorified by all people.
Intercessor We pray for all bishops, priests, and deacons;
All That they may be faithful ministers of your Word and
Sacraments.
Intercessor We pray for all who govern and hold authority in the nations
of the world;
All That there may be justice and peace on the earth.
Intercessor Give us grace to do your will in all that we undertake;
All That our works may find favor in your sight.
Intercessor Have compassion on those who suffer from any grief or
trouble;
All That they may be delivered from their distress.
Intercessor Give to the departed eternal rest.
All Let light perpetual shine upon them.
Intercessor We praise you for your saints who have entered into joy;
All May we also come to share in your heavenly kingdom.
Intercessor Hear our prayers, Holy God. Breathe your Spirit over us and
all the earth, that barriers would crumble and divisions cease.
Make us more fully your co-healers of the broken world.
Unite us with all people in bonds of love, that the whole
earth and all its peoples may be at peace; through Jesus
Christ our Lord.
All Amen.

THE LITURGY OF THE ALTAR
A Prayer for Spiritual Communion SAPB p. 145, adapted
In the Episcopal tradition, we believe that when circumstances make it impossible to consume the Eucharistic elements, our desire is enough for God to grant all the benefits of communion.
The Lord’s Prayer
Celebrant To prepare us for receiving Spiritual Communion let us now say together the prayer our Savior Christ has taught us, praying,
All Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. Celebrant I invite all those who are unable to receive the consecrated bread and wine this day, but who long for the grace and blessing of God through our Savior Jesus Christ, to join me in this Prayer for Spiritual Communion:
People In union, Blessed Jesus, with your faithful people at every altar of your Church where the Holy Eucharist is now being celebrated, I offer my praise and thanksgiving. Since I cannot receive you today in the Sacrament of your Body and Blood, I ask you to come spiritually into my heart. Cleanse and strengthen me with your grace, Lord Jesus, and let me never be separated from you. May I live in you, and you in me, in this life and in the life to come. Amen.
