Yeoval Central School Term 4 Week 4
Our Year 11 students have moved to Year 12 and commenced the HSC studies. These students now have the opportunity to review the subjects they will study for the HSC. It is important for students to stay focused on their studies in Term 4 as this will be the foundation for their HSC course and will form the basis for assessment tasks this term. Students have the opportunity to drop a subject next year, if they wish, in preparation for the HSC.
31 October 2011
Year 10 students are expected to attend school until Friday 16th December. For students in Year 10: School Certificate commences 7th
November. The Board of Studies will issue
award documents on 8th December. The school will hold a morning tea
for Year 10 students this term. With the new leaving age, students
in Year 10 who have not reached 17 years of age are required (by law) to attend school after the School Certificate.
Year 10 students who can demon‐strate that they are leaving school to enter full time employment and will not be resuming their studies at school in 2012 should notify the Principal.
Students leaving Yeoval Central School next year need to advise our office for arrangements to be made for the trans‐fer of documents by 2012. Our school encourages student participation and involvement and students leaving will be missed. Parents are reminded that “No hat No play in the sun” rule is now being en‐forced for all students. Primary students are expected to wear the brown school hat. Secondary students are requested to wear the brown hat. COMING EVENTS: TERM 4 2nd November: Year 7 Orientation Day Agricultural committee meeting. Primary Captains’ Speeches. 4th November: SRC Treats Day Guide Dogs Consultant Presentation – Primary

I have returned from the NSW Principal’s Annual Conference where the theme “New Wave” is to inspire Principals to lead schools in the twenty first century and create the future.
“I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world”. (Albert Einstein).
Over the three days I listened to a number of speakers including Kurt Fearnley, Tony Vison, Adam Fraser, Michael McQueen, Nigel Marsh Feyi Akindoyeni and Major General Jim Molan all of whom spoke about experiences and challenges that they encountered on their way to achieving goals. Some key points from the confer‐ence that we endeavour to achieve in our school include:
Too often we give children answers to remember rather than the prob‐lem to solve.
Bridging the generation gap is so im‐portant for relationships and trust.
Balancing school, home, friends and being socially confident is a huge task and one that can not be done alone.

Finally, as educators, we need to use imagination to embrace the shifts that have changed educa‐tion. These are all about how we look at life and what is happening in society (home and school). They include: truth, life is meant to be…, career paths, communication, the utility of education, respect, and the relevance of what happens now.
If you have time come and discuss these with me. I miss being away from our school be it is worth‐while to network with colleagues and find out what else is happening in educational circles.
