FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Theme: Wisdom and the demand of discipleship.
In our modern and computerized world, we stress over the value and impor-
tance of planning and calculation. The computer helps the human mind make
quick and prudent decisions. Does calculation have a place in our inter-human
relationships, or on a higher level, in the way human beings decide to style their
lives as related to God and religion?
Bible people did not know the computer, but they did know about wisdom and
prudence. But as a rule, we must sit down and apply wisdom and prudence in
all we do. The first reading and Gospel of today, deal with prudence and even
calculation. I am convinced that we all need wisdom and prudence in all our
level of interactions and endeavors.
Real wisdom is a gift of God. It cannot be obtained by professional philoso-
phers. We must beg God to give it to us. Question for reflection this week: do
we pray for guidance when we are about to make an important decision? Let us
make the Psalm of today, (Psalm 90) our prayer for this week “Teach us to
number our days aright, that we may gain wisdom of heart.”

Tema: La sabiduría y la exigencia del discipulado.
En nuestro mundo moderno y computarizado, hacemos hincapié en el valor y la
importancia de la planificación y el cálculo. La computadora ayuda a la mente
humana para tomar decisiones rápidas y prudentes. ¿Tiene el cálculo un lugar en
nuestras relaciones interhumanas, o, en un nivel superior, en la manera como los
seres humanos deciden el estilo de vida en relación con Dios y la religión?
las personas de la Biblia no conocieron la computadora, pero si saben acerca de
la sabiduría y la prudencia. Pero por regla general debemos sentarnos y aplicar la
sabiduría y prudencia en todo lo que hacemos. La primera lectura y el Evangelio
de hoy, trata de la prudencia e incluso el cálculo. Estoy convencido de que to-
dos necesitamos la sabiduría y la prudencia en todos nuestros niveles de interac-
ción y actividades.
La verdadera sabiduría es un don de Dios. No se puede obtener a través de filó-
sofos profesionales. Debemos pedir a Dios que nos la conceda. Pregunta para
reflexionar esta semana: ¿Oramos para pedir orientación cuando estamos a punto
de tomar una decisión importante? Hagamos el Salmo de hoy, (Salmo 90) nues-
tra oración para esta semana "Enséñanos a contar bien nuestros días, para que
adquiramos un corazón sensato."

NUESTRA SEÑORA DE GUADALUPE Hoy 4 de Septiembre, nuestra Cofradía Guadalupa-
na inicia el rezo del rosario en los hogares en prepa-
ración para la celebración de la Fiesta de Nuestra
Señora de Guadalupe.
El grupo trae la imagen de la Virgen, reza el rosario
y ora con la familia y sus invitados. La imagen se queda en el
hogar de la familia esa noche y después continúa su peregrina-
je con la próxima familia.

SEPTEMBER 13 TO OCTOBER 25
OLGC SCHOOL AUDITORIUM Discovering Christ is a seven-week experience
where all are invited to hear the Good News and per-
sonally encounter Jesus Christ. Discovering Christ
consists of seven weekly sessions on Tuesdays at
7:00 PM with a retreat day on October 15. The
weekly sessions include four components: a meal,
prayer time, a video teaching, and small group dis-
cussion. We are excited to bring the Discovering
Christ experience to our Parish. If you are interested
in volunteering or attending, we have sign up sheets
in the back of the church and the parish office. You
may also sign up on the OLGC website – olgcsi.org.
