SHB has invested significantly in improving its current in-house transport fleet of 53 HGVs by introducing newer, bigger and more efficient vehicles to help keep up with business growth. The revamp will see 9 of SHB’s existing 7.5T Beavertails gradually replaced over the next 12 months by 13 brand new trucks. The first of the new DAF CF 18T Beavertails have been built in-house by SHB’s fabrication teams and are already in operation with two more trucks being added every four weeks.
2016 is drawing to a close and whilst this year, like many, has had its ups and downs, at SHB we can’t help but look back at the last year with immense pride. Over the past 12 months we have seen our diverse fleet continue to grow with a number of new makes and models added, as well as numerous business acquisitions such as the purchase of our largest site ever in Gloucester along with Acklea, the UK’s leading supplier of Traffic Management equipment. We have worked tirelessly to improve the service we provide our customers which has seen us update and expand our own internal logistics fleet, the implementation of product managers and several upgrades to our online customer portal. The summer months once again saw our events side of the business as busy as ever with our buggies popping up at Farnborough International Airshow, Glastonbury, V Festival, Carfest, Creamfields plus many more. On a more recent note we have been shortlisted for Best Festival Support Service at the 2017 Festival Supplier Awards on the back of our work at Farnborough International Airshow. 2016 also marked the end of the manufacturing line for the ever-reliable Land Rover Defender. The trusty 4x4 has served our business and customers well for almost 50 years so we were understandably sad to see the curtain fall down on such a momentous vehicle. We did however ensure that we maintained our Defender fleet levels by purchasing 300 more prior to them cutting the supply. To help us maintain our title of having the largest 4x4 fleet in Europe we have also invested substantially in more Ford Rangers, VW Amoroks, Toyota Hiluxs plus a number of other models.

SHB Takes Delivery of UK’s First Klubb Platform
SHB are pleased to announce the addition of the UK’s very first KLUBB Van Mount to further compliment our large and diverse fleet. The K38P platform has been mounted onto a Ford Transit and boasts a highly impressive working height of 13.8m and 360 degree rotation. The platform has been fitted onto a Ford Transit by CPL Platforms who are based in Northamptonshire. Jim Bullock from SHB’s purchasing team expressed his delight at securing the very first of its model. “The CPL K38P is an industry leading platform and the very first to be introduced in the UK. We are proud to be the only company who can boast such a vehicle on fleet, and are delighted with the quality supplied from CPL Platforms and the manufacturer KLUBB”. KLUBB is the innovative new range of platforms developed to be mounted on vans, built on the heritage of the GELEV Group, one of Europe’s most successful vehicle- mounted aerial platform companies.
SHB Shortlisted at Festival Supplier Awards SHB have been shortlisted for Best Festival Support Service at the 2017 Festival Supplier Awards. The nomination is on the back of our work at the highly successful and world renowned Farnborough International Airshow held in July. SHB are the sole supplier to Farnborough Airshow for the supply of buggies, 4x4s and various LCVs. The months leading up to the event had been planned to ensure that for this years event we were fully prepared particularly with in excess of 400 buggies being hired out by some of the biggest companies in the aviation industry. SHB were allocated a compound area for the duration of the event, allowing us space to store buggies as well as accommodate customers with our own events trailer and also to actively manage the operation through an on-site office. The winner will be announced in January, fingers crossed!
SHB are delighted and proud to continue being the sole supplier to one of the UK’s most established civil engineering and surfacing companies, JTT Contracting Ltd. JTT, established in 1991, recently celebrated 25 years of trading and over the past 6 years SHB has helped the Exeter based firm with its fleet solutions. 2016 has seen their existing fleet replaced with a mixture of brand new Partner vans, crew vans, tippers and HGVs which will be in operation for the next four years. The 18 vehicles were once again supplied out of SHB’s Exeter branch who will continue to support the account.

SHB Helps Support Somerset Conservation Work
SHB and Somerset Wildlife Trust have come together to help with the long term care of nature reserves and habitats within the county. The trust recently took delivery of one of our double cab Toyota Hilux’s on a 5 year lease. The 4x4 is the ideal vehicle to deal with the various types of terrain that the
Trust comes up against on a daily basis and will help the organisation towards safeguarding the habitats and surrounding natural environment for the future.
“During the whole vehicle specification and leasing
process, Hesty Carroll has been extremely helpful and we were absolutely delighted when the Toyota was delivered, bearing our charity’s logo. The vehicle will be used by our Reserves Manager as he carries out
important conservation and protection work on and around
the Polden Hills.”
