is money available for college! Federal Student Aid, a part of the U.S. Department of Education, is the largest provider of student financial aid in the nation. Seniors in high school and their parents who are looking to get financial help to attend college need to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Osceola County - Noticias / News24 parejas se casan el Día de San valentínCondado osceola, FL - Expresar el amor

que sienten el uno por el otro es una costumbre común entre las parejas el Día de San Valentin. Ya que este día se considera “especial” muchas parejas escogen esta fecha para casarse.

Esto fue lo que sucedió el pasado viernes en el Condado Osceola cuando el Secretario de la Corte de Circuito del Condado Osceola, Armando R. Ramírez, llevó a cabo una ceremonia de boda en grupo en la Corte Histórica del Condado Osceola en Kissimmee.

“Nuestra corte es la corte más antigua que aún permanece abierta en todo el estado, lo que ofrece un excelente escenario para que las felices parejas se casen por lo civil en un día tan especial,” dijo Ramírez.

Un total de 24 parejas solicitaron participar en el evento. La ceremonia se realizó en español para 11 parejas y en inglés para 13 parejas según estas lo solicitaron. Miembros de las familias y amigos de las parejas presenciaron el emotivo momento.

El secretario llevó a cabo las ceremonias y Milly Ramirez, su esposa, estuvo a cargo de cortar el pastel de bodas cortesía de Epic Delights Bakery en Kissimmee. Hershey Florist en St. Cloud proveyó plantas con flores para ambientar el lugar. Además, la oficina del secretario entregó bolsitas con semillas de pájaro a los asistentes y un programa conmemorativo en español e inglés.

Condado osceola, FL - The expression of one’s love to another is a celebrated custom among couples on Valentine’s Day. Since this day is considered “special” many couples choose this day to get married.Last Friday in Osceola County,

Armando R. Ramirez, Osceola

County Clerk of the Circuit Court, hosted a group wedding ceremony at the Historic Osceola County Courthouse in Kissimmee.“Our courthouse is the oldest

working courthouse in the state, and this is an excellent backdrop for happy couples to get married in a civil ceremony on this special day,” Ramirez said. A total of 24 couples signed up

to participate in the event. The ceremony was held in Spanish for 11 couples and in English for 13 couples, as per their request. Family members and friends of the couples were able to witness the emotional moment.The clerk performed the ceremonies

and Milly Ramirez, the clerk’s wife, cut the wedding cake donated by Epic Delights Bakery in Kissimmee. Hershey Florists in St. Cloud provided live plants with cut flowers to decorate the place. In addition, the clerk’s office provided bird seed sachets for the observers and also provided commemorative programs in both English and Spanish. Like last year, the clerk has waived

the normal $30 fee to perform the marriage ceremony. Couples will receive a special

commemorative marriage certificate, along with a complimentary photo, which will be mailed within one week from the date of the ceremony with the official certificate of marriage.

orlando, FL - The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando (HCCMO) published a special issue of their quarterly magazine Vision, in which they selected the 25 Most Influential Hispanics in Central Florida, including their 2013 Chairman of the Board, Jose Cerda. This year, for the first time, they included 20 individuals and 5 couples on the list.A reception took place on Tuesday,

February 18 at the National Entrepreneur Center in Orlando, where all the selected individuals were honored. In addition to them, HCCMO board members, trustees and chamber member representatives attended the event.The list of 25 names was complied

by the editorial board of Vision Magazine. Each of the board members was given instructions to choose 10 or more candidates who have demonstrated leadership or contributed to the enrichment and growth of the Hispanic community in Central Florida.

Using scoring based on specific criteria in a variety of categories, the editorial board chose 25 nominees from over 100 submitted names. The 25 nominees with the higher scores are represented in the issue with a little bit of information about them.We congratulate all the individuals

Kissimmee, FL - Kissimmee Utility Authority publicó su calendario de conservación de la energía del 2014, con las obras ganadoras de su concurso anual de arte de estudiantes.

Los calendarios están disponibles de forma gratuita, mientras duren, en el centro de servicio al cliente de KUA, ubicado en el 1701 W. Carroll Street en Kissimmee.

Abierto a los estudiantes del Condado Osceola desde el jardín de infantes hasta el quinto grado, el concurso está diseñado para promover la conservación de la energía entre los estudiantes y sus familias. Kissimmee, FL - Kissimmee Utility Authority has released its 2014 calendar of energy conservation, featuring the winning entries from its annual student art contest.

The calendars are available free of charge while supplies last at KUA’s customer service center, located at 1701 W. Carroll Street in Kissimmee.

Open to Osceola County students in kindergarten through fifth grade, the contest is designed to promote energy conservation among students and their families. This year, a total of 1,770 entries were received from 32 Osceola County elementary schools, including public, private and charter schools.

Chief Rooney’s leadership our City has continued to see reductions in violent crime year after year,” said Mayor Dyer. “Chief Rooney launched new domestic violence initiatives,

enhanced outreach and support to the elderly, initiated a body camera study, placed a new emphasis on officer safety and training and made succession planning a priority.”As the newly appointed Police Chief,

John Mina, 45, will oversee the day-to-day operations of the department and serve as chief counsel to the Mayor in matters of public safety. During his 23-year tenure with the Orlando Police Department, Mina has worked in a variety of divisions, including the West Patrol Division, the Criminal Investigations Division, the Community Policing Division,

the Training Unit and the Drug Enforcement Division. He has also served as the Division Commander for both the North Patrol Division and the Criminal Investigations Division and served as Staff Director for the Chief of Police under former Chief Val Demings. Chief Mina is a graduate of the 254th

Session of the FBI National Academy and has also completed the Southern Police Institute Command Officer’s Development Course. Chief Mina is currently working on a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Columbia College.

Miami, FL - La primera noche de “Top Chef Estrellas” de Telemundo (8pm/7c) dio mucho de qué hablar cuando las ocho celebridades entraron por primera vez a la cocina del prestigioso reality presentado por la reconocida actriz Aylin Mujica. Luego de enfrentar una serie de retos culinarios y ser estrictamente evaluados por los famosos chefs Lorena García, Jaime Martin del Campo y Ramiro Arvizu, el cantante y actor mexicano Christian Chávez fue el primer eliminado, convirtiéndose en asistente de la cocina luego que le colocaran el sombrero negro, momento emotivo cuando reveló que está pasando por situaciones difíciles en su vida.Luego que Aylin Mujica presentara a

los chefs jueces, comenzó el primer reto, donde cada participante creó su propio plato, su mejor receta que lleva su sello personal, sin ninguna restricción pero en un periodo de una hora y por primera vez en la cocina de “Top Chef Estrellas”, con los ingredientes que tenían a su alcance. Miami, FL - Viewers are talking about Telemundo’s “Top Chef Estrellas” (Sundays at 8pm/7c), which got off to an exciting start as the eight celebrities gathered in the kitchen of the prestigious reality show, hosted by actress Aylin Mujica. After a series of cooking challenges judged by the famous chefs Lorena Garcia, Jaime Martin del Campo and Ramiro Arvizu, Christian Chávez was the first contestant to wear the black hat and be eliminated from the competition. The Mexican singer and actor, who confessed to problems in his personal life, will remain on the show as a Sous Chef.After Aylin Mujica introduced the

three chef judges, the contestants dove right into the first challenge: creating their own signature dish without any restriction but in a one hour period inside the “Top Chef Estrellas” kitchen with the available ingredients. Once the 60 minutes were over, they all raised their hands and the chefs began the evaluation by visiting each station and tasting their final plates. Some created very simple recipes, like the Veracruz style fish by actor Christian de la Campa, while other prepared dishes that were impossible to eat, such as Cynthia Olavarria’s pasta with ground beef. At the end, the winner was Dr. Nancy with her

Nancy’s pink team with its Mexican-inspired menu, with Cynthia singled out for preparing the best dessert. This is when David Chocarro and Christian Chavez were threatened to leave the competition but Christian was eliminated earning him a demotion to Sous Chef. At the end of the episode, the eight celebrity stars made the quinceañera’s dream come true not only by creating two menus, but also because the young girl enjoyed an unforgettable night surrounded by superstars, where Christian sang for her alongside a Mexican mariachi and his seven teammates.

de Policía de Kissimmee han recibido aproximadamente seis (6) reportes desde el principio de febrero, de parte de residentes que han recibido una llamada telefónica en español informándoles que un miembro de su familia ha estado involucrado en un accidenté y ha sido secuestrado. La persona que llama demanda dinero de rescate al residente y amenaza seguir haciéndole daño al miembro de su familia si sus demandas no son obedecidas. La persona que llama le mete miedo a los residentes, diciéndoles que se queden en el teléfono o mataran al miembro de la familia.Los detectives están advirtiendo

a los ciudadanos sobre este esquema. Estos sujetos están eligiendo individuales hispanos. Si usted recibe una llamada similar, manténgase calmado y contacte al miembro de la familia inmediatamente. No se ponga de acuerdo en proveer dinero de rescate o encontrarse con nadie para entregarle dinero.Los detectives también le están

Kissimmee Police warn kidnapping scam still occurringKissimmee, FL , - Kissimmee police detectives are

warning residents of a kidnapping scam that is still occurring targeting Hispanic citizens.Kissimmee police detectives have received approximately

six (6) reports since the beginning of February from citizens who have received a call in Spanish informing them that a family member has been involved in an accident and has been kidnapped. The caller is demanding ransom money from the citizen and threatens to further harm the family member if the demands are not met. The caller is instilling fear into the citizen demanding they stay on the phone or the family member will be killed. Detectives are warning citizens about this scam. These

suspects are targeting Hispanic individuals. If you receive a similar call, remain calm and contact the family member immediately to ensure they are safe. If you are unable to contact the family member call law enforcement immediately. Do not agree to provide ransom money or meet anyone to deliver ransom money. Detectives are also asking the public to attempt to verify

the caller’s claim by requesting the name of the abducted family member. Even if you have verified your family

member is safe, detectives are urging citizens to report the incident immediately. When reporting the incident, be ready to provide the

detectives with the following information: confirmation your family member is safe, specific demands the caller made, gender and accent of the caller, date, time and location the caller arranged for the ransom to be paid. Anyone with information on these types of calls is asked

equipo del Magic durante el receso del All Star. Arron Afflalo, Victor Oladipo, junto con Stuff, la mascota del equipo, viajaron a Nueva Orleans para representar a Orlando. Afflalo fue elegido para participar en los Lanzamientos de Tres Puntos y Oladipo estaba participando en el Reto a las Estrellas Prometedoras y el Desafío de Habilidades.

A Afflalo le fue bien. Terminó en el quinto lugar con una puntuación de 15. Él fue capaz de derrotar a los cuatro en sus últimos tiros del estante “money-ball”. Cada “money-ball” cuenta por dos puntos en lugar de uno. El estante de “money-ball” fue diferente este año. team during the All Star Break. Arron Afflalo, Victor Oladipo, along with Stuff, the team’s mascot, traveled to New Orleans to represent Orlando. Afflalo was chosen to participate in the Three-Point Shoot-Out and Oladipo was participating in the Rising Stars Challenge as well as the Skills Challenge.

Afflalo did well. He finished in fifth place with a score of 15. He was able to knock down all four is his last shots from the money-ball only rack. Each money-ball made counts for two points instead of one. The money-ball rack was different this year. Previously they had money-balls dispersed on each rack; this year each rack’s last ball was a money-ball and the players could pick one rack to be all money-balls. Afflalo knows his sweet spot and was able to make them all, but it wasn’t enough to move to final round in the contest and represent the East.

The Skills Challenge also changed. It was a “tag team” type relay including a dribbling challenge, a passing challenge, and a jump shot challenge. Victor Oladipo was paired up with Michael Carter-Williams of the Philadelphia 76ers. Their first run through the challenge was fast enough to bring them to the final challenge where they would go head to head against Damian Lillard, a Portland Trailblazer, and Trey Burke, from the Utah Jazz. Oladipo and Carter-Williams finished one tenth of a second behind Lillard and Burke. Oladipo did well in the Rising Stars Challenge putting up 13 points, 4 assists on 6 – 10 shooting and of course, some impressive dunks.

By Monday, it was back to business as the team prepared to leave sunny Florida to face the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday. The Bucks currently hold the worst record in the NBA while the Magic are currently hold

the record for the worst “Away” team this season. Caron Butler, of the Bucks, earned his way into the “Magic killers” club, made up only of players who seem to perform beyond expectation when facing Orlando. Butler made seven 3-point shots to lead the Bucks to a 104 to 100 victory over Orlando.

The following night, the Magic faced the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Magic had their final loss before the trade deadline. The 101 to 93 loss didn’t sting as bad as it could have. Glen Davis played only 6 minutes and was 0 for 4 from the field while Jameer Nelson, also having an off night, shot 2 for 11. These veterans have been the stars of the trade rumors surrounding Orlando. The Magic had been quiet all the way up to the deadline.

A few rumors had surfaced but none seemed to entice the Magic enough to bite. Unlike last season, Rob Hennigan chose to not pull the trigger in those final minutes. The roster will stay as is for the remainder of the season. But come draft time we all expect big changes to happen.
